Let me preface this with I have no interest in this game, or a reason to defend it specifically.
But let people, enjoy games they enjoy. Without worrying about if you like it?

Remember, people like shit you don't. People play games you wouldn't. People like games you don't. Could be a 1/10 game to you, and someone else a 10/10, or the other way around.
Shit games exist, good games exist. Which is which to each person, is only important solely to opinions of the person spending money on it.

That same argument can be said for the last 20 years. Each one had its share of total shit games. It's like "Music was better in [some decade]" why we think that? We forgot the dump truck of shit songs never played on the radio, or on our own, a 1000 times and got lost to time. Shit games come out each year, but we remember the ones we put 100's of hours in.

No I see it, just its 'same shit different decade' is all.
My dad said the same of movies in the 90's. And music, and TV...entertainment to him went to shit in the late 90s.
I did to..10+ years ago.
For example I said the same of MMO's 15+ years ago with the 100's of shitty WoW clones (and WoW itself. Ruined MMOs). And the same to RTS with the Starcraft clones.
Don't remember the slew of 'WWII' FPS games? 90% of them being shit?
Games with zombies slapped into them over a decade ago, when it started? Most was utter crap.
Same-same. Just we grow older, have more expectations set in what we like and what is good, compared to 20+ years ago when every new genre we tried had nothing to compare it to, to realize some was 'kinda shit too'. And those we did, we forgot.
And now the new perpetual wave of gamers are like us back then, they don't have 2 decades of expectations and criteria needing to be met to find joy in a "Here is the 47th twist on a game type you played 100 different ways in other games".
One day these people will complain "They don't make them like fortnite, Man that game was GREAT!".

Why I don't go back and play old games. Most I do I realize "Wow, this is kinda garbage, at least compared to what I remember and expect now-a-days from a game like this"
Like Half Life 1, other than the enjoyable 'memberberries' of it opening memories of it. When I retried it, realized it was a pretty basic ass FPS shooter with a badly acted story if compared to modern ones. If they made it now, we would complain valve is making shovelware.

You keep pointing to an elephant. I agree yes it is there. But say its always been there. Just because you just looked and saw it, doesn't mean it's new.
I'd say the ratio of shit games to good games is the same as always. I had TONS of SNES games that was utter shit. More games than I can remember downloading on my 486 that was crap. many many many fly by night 'free' games that came with magazines or gaming media that took longer to install that it did to realize it sucked.
Ratio of sucked to good feels about the same to me now as it did back then retrospectively. For every good game, there is X amount of crap ones like it. We just don't remember the volumes of crap ones, because we spent time remembering the good ones.
Nothing new.
The current state of [insert random thing here] is has always been going down according to everyone: games, cars, music, TV shows, Movies, books, news, human condition, whatever. Ask anyone, and the longer they been around, the more it has went down. And it goes down faster the older you get.
We live in a perpetual Shepard Tone according to everyone, just matters how long you've had to listen on how far it seems you've heard it drop.

It is getting worse, and to me its sad that so much effort is spent on these projects when just small changes to them could have made them go from 6/10's to close to 9/10's.
I don't understand why i saw Gothic 3 and Elex being mentioned as similar games. This doesn't play like those games even one bit, this is much more like Resident Evil and walking sims, mixed slightly with open world feel but with boring restrictions of how you can explore it. In for example Elex you can jump/fly, swim, basically go anywhere, this is not such a game.

A sense of progression. Or...
Proper PC features. Or...
Immersion through mechanics, interface and gameplay. Or...
True player agency. Or...
Enironmental storytelling. Or...
Mystery. Or...
Let the player discover instead of treating him like an idiot and hand-holding him... Or...
yup. i did like that there was no map and little hand holding here, but what's the point of restricting exploration to this great extent, very lazy and not how you do good exploration in games.
This combat is infuriating. The white citcle heal thing would be ok if i actually understood it. Seems the rings just vanish more often than i'm getting heals from them. And the enemies animations are pretty lame and i don't expect to be able to stagger anything in this.

You have to press a button when the ring turns solid. The default key is X which is super awkward.
I liked the demo and waited for full release and I must admit I'm not dissapointed.
The game is much bigger than anticipated and they even optimized the performance.
No hand holding is really satisfying when solving all of the puzzles and there are a lot of them.
Not sure if this was mimicry of me, or just coincidence. The way I capitalize too many first letters sometime, and usually always miss type just as jsut.
Old fingers suck trying to type fast like you are still 30 . Spellcheck doesn't even try to fix just for me anymore. It gave up and assuming I want it that way.
If it wasn't carry on, just (jsut?) me noticing a similarity. If it was, good on ya. Expertly deployed subtly
