Asphalt handling is still shit and their Hardcore damage is not working. Seen a stream yesterday where they crashed into trees/rolled a couple of times and car would still do its thing.
And moments of FPS drops. Needs a patch/discount really.
The new types of terrain and damage model make it better than DR1. Handling is similar to DR1, but terrain fidelity is definitely key here.
Thanks for your input, what about the tracks though ? The ones from the gameplay videos seemed bland at best.
Here's a video a colleague recorded. Some tracks feature all three types of terrain and they feel really unique, and that's quite an achievement in racing games -according to him. 1440p/4k resolution in the video is still processing I'm afraid.
I just hope the physics won't have anything to share with Dirt 4 and its iper-softened surfaces, auto-steering and copypasta'd generic layouts, those were quite the party poopers. The Seasonal scrapped contents are very greedy, but at least the iso will take care of those (..eventually!), poor physics are forever.

Thanks man ! Still dubious about the tracks, they don't seem nearly as good as DR1 ( + they lose some licenses for awesome tracks like Monte Carlo )
Career mode, or My Team, is similar to the original Dirt Rally, tasking players with building a garage and a team. It’s a little shallower than Dirt 4, which rolled in sponsorships and team liveries and such, and for some reason you’ll need to be online to access it. I understand why being online is a requirement to access the daily and weekly asynchronous challenges against other Dirt players, but why single-player progression is tied to it isn’t clear.
Hey folks, an answer on Career Mode - you do need to be online for the My Team campaign. There are a few different reasons why, but the main one is so your results can be verified by the server. Essentially, it's to ensure that we don't have any hacking/cheating shenanigans. Hope that helps clarify things!
Is this the codex or legit version? Tbf as long as I can try the physics and driving model, I will then decide whether to buy this or not. But i learned my lesson with D4.
hmm oh well, custom race is enough for me before the price gets a bit lower and "maybe" some bugs and tarmac physics get sorted, which I dont have high hopes for sadly.
Christ I cant get over how dull the co-driver sounds... Not just dull, the tone of the voice became so annoying this will probably make me not play the game. Not like I paid for it, but still, this was one of the few games I looked forward to.
I just tested the yarr for a while, as expected it suffers from a mild early access disease, with some roughness, a crippled single player portion because reasons(tm) and scarce contents (snow, dirt and more variety overall are very needed), but the foundations of the game (handling and tracks' design) are pretty solid in my opinion.
Driving feels rewarding again with the different surfaces and weather affecting the style and approach, doing the Argentinian stages on the Audi Sport Quattro E2 with all the aids off and hardcore damage enabled is an anxiety simulator . The cars handle quite differently from DR1 when it comes to weight distribution and friction, I'd say they're more predictable overall (there's more room to correct a mistake for example), though it's not a negative sensation.
The generic D4rpian tracks fortunately are gone and the stage deformation is a good addition, tarmac feels better also. The AI is an odd beast indeed (times are either inhumane or sloth-like), and while the graphics have more bells and whistles, the actual heavy post-processing makes the game look more michaelbayesque than realistic (the performance is fine for me after setting the Crowd details to medium since it was eating frames for breakfasts). There's potential here, but the silly Codemen are holding it back with their schemes.
Haha yeah, it feels like the Codies are sabotaging their own product on purpose, with the online-only career and scrapped contents sold as future Seasons being the biggest offenders really. I'm on a puny 360 pad but was also reading that FFB is currently broken for steering wheels, so it is indeed quite the botched "1.0" release.
It's a shame because the driving model actually works well, the handling reminded me of the PCars1->PCars2 transition with meatier cars and their behavior that can be read better whilst retaining the simulative approach. Tracks are demanding and narrow too, nothing like Dirt4's flat autobahns. Oh well, it's wise to wait (as per usual in these cases) at least until the inevitable future discounted complete/goty VR edition pops up.
