actually denuvo + unity = not working properly. they cant encrypt the executable, they need to do it via a dll, and that dll is written in a language denuvo cant encrypt either. its "just" from start to end plastered with triggers
Played a bit, seems like a B effort in terms of atmosphere, novelty and gameplay. The original immediately hooked you with the element of time travel, while this one plays far too ordinarily. Even the "graffiti" (where? writing a "clever" phrase in ordinary letters is not what I call graffiti) aspect is a B type of replacement of the mechanic of taking pictures.
Doesn't help I didn't like Chloe all that much in the original and now I have to play as that asshole.
Still, I do appreciate the links to the original, the music is cool, and I am looking forward to getting to know Rachel. I am hopeful it will get more interesting once that happens.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."

"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

And now that I met her Rachel seems the least charismatic of a character they could possibly make her... What's going on guiz

Outsourcing, often not a good idea
Hopefully Dontnod will be able to restore the magic with the proper sequel, although the "when" is a question mark considering all the other projects (probably the reason why this title was released, to keep the interest alive in the meantime).
I'll play it too eventually, but I shall wait for all the episodes to be available, my goldfish memory struggles with forced (long) pauses.. Life is Binge!

Yeah, I know it was outsourced to some random studio, and I suspected it was going to be not as good, which is the reason I didn't rush to play the game. But it's more disappointing than I thought!
To tell the truth I was expecting at least one of the two writers of the original to be writing this, since they enlisted even Ashly Burch as a writing consultant, so I was thinking they definitely have someone from the original team too. But nope, new writers, new director, new designers... (Burch's involvement seems more like a PR measure to calm down those that were disappointed she couldn't reprise her role as Chloe.)
And it's very evident it's other people making this, because despite copying the original in terms of structure and setting, it's much blander! Nothing exciting really happens in it (the big reveal of what's troubling Rachel had me laugh because of its insignificance compared to a motherfucking storm of storms approaching Arcadia Bay).
In other words, it's your typical prequel, and prequels are largely worthless. (They very obviously reference Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me with Firewalk and fire being all over the script, and say what you will about the quality of that prequel film, but at least it had its own style, while this is bland copy paste of the original game.)
I watched a Let's Play of Episode 1 of Life is Strange just to confirm to myself if I remember correctly that it was much more exciting and of course it was!
Lastly there are some plot inconsistencies with the original game, most of them are whatever, but there are a few big ones, like Chloe apparently knowing some characters as students, while everything in the original game pointed out she didn't know them, or Victoria being to Blackwell in a pre-Jefferson era, while in the original she claimed she was there because of him.

Finished EP3 yesterday, the ending was unfortunately a bit underwhelming, especially the scene
Spoiler:
after Sera gets drugged and Chloe wakes up after getting kicked in the head. I thought it was a dream sequence with the talk about "doing what is right for Amber" and once you really wake up, Sera is dead. Which IMO would have been the better ending and it would have made the final choice about wether or not to tell Amber the truth even more emotional. Her just walking away feels forced.
Even then, great Season, enjoyed it very much. Now am looking forward to the bonus episode, probably in february.
Yeah, 3rd episode was weaker than the first two, seemed a bit rushed.
Nonetheless I strongly recommend to give it a try, got hugely enjoyable 12 hours out of it. It is one of those games where I kind of "miss" the main characters when all is said and done, hope the rumors about a sequel to BTS are true.
so those who played this is it good like the original game? wanted to wait for all ep to release but now i find out that there is another bonus episode coming so will wait a little longer
It's a letdown. Not as good as the original. The ending of Ep1 hinted at something supernatural going on again... but then nothing came of it. What a scam
well the story in the first game i dont think it was that interesting either but it was the characters that did it for me which felt more real than most telltale games
