Finished the PS4 version yesterday and loved it...no huge differences compared to previous installments except for better graphics and upgrade system.
I do miss the buying and selling planes as that gave the player more variety in plane types imo.
Now instead of money you get points in missions and use those points to acquire more planes and missiles(can't sell them for points though)...it works, but you can only buy certain planes at a certain time since it's an aircraft tree with different paths to take.
I always loved Russian planes so MIG's and SU's for me, but if I wanted another plane from the other path for example I had to buy cheaper and crappier planes first to unlock the better ones.
I don't remember this being in AC5, but then again multiple playthrougs will help unlock all the planes.
Upgrade system was a welcome addition in my book, but it's not all that needed in the campaign, even on normal difficulty. They only slightly improve the planes systems and improved missile damage does fuck all in level 1, you still need two missiles to destroy most planes.
Further levels require more playing since it's behind a certain requirement.
Graphically it looks stunning, but there are inconsistencies with the terrain and land units, nothing too bad, but you do notice them at times.
Story was weird, but it always is with AC games.
Can't wait for the PC version, have to play it again with even better graphics.
I don't see what it has to do with being an arcade game though. It's an input device that makes life easier, which would be useful since the cockpit view seems to offer relevant info.
Funny how they say there won’t be VR because it’s not a sim. But it supports PSVR on PlayStation.
Yes, VR missions are PSVR exclusive, just a very small separate bunch.
GFX-wise game looks totally like the previous ones when it comes to ground and terrain. The planes are so far away you can't see if they're nicely or badly rendered, must be some very basic LODs. All the military porn is in the scripted cutscenes and in hangars.

Today I didn't even need to use my AK. I gotta say it was a good day. (c) - Ice Cube
Partially, a few missions are using VR from what I've read.
I downloaded the japanese VR demo on PS4 and I gotta say holy shit...
This is one of the best VR implementations every, soaring through the skies is simply breathtaking. I replayed this fucking short 3-4 minutes demo atleast 10 times now and I can't get enough.
Was thinking of buying the game just for the 2-3 hours of VR content, but fuck that.
