Good, better to release it late than half assed.

So in other words they ran out of money. Well I guess this is the better option than begging for more on Kickstarter like Mighty No. 9.

In both versions the floor textures in the foreground and background don't blend together properly

Thank you for waiting patiently! (Or impatiently but politely, if that's more your style.) We've got a lot to show you in today's update, and with E3 coming up we should have more where this came from.
But first: Here's this week's comment from IGA, along with the latest development update video.
Hello everyone! This is IGA. For this update, we interviewed DICO's technical director at their workplace. (He’s too shy to show his face, so we cropped it out, but there are a few moments where you might catch him sneaking into the frame anyway...)
The interview might not be perfect, since I was the one asking the questions, but I hope you're still able to get a peek into the development process.
We also took some footage of the staff hard at work, so you can see exactly where it is that Bloodstained is being made. We're all working very hard every day, and we look forward to your continued support.

Will probably be pretty good as it's like the most hardcore Symphony of the Night rip-off I have ever seen (yes I realize who is making this and what they were aiming for), but it's a shame it looks like they've given up on the animations. They've been like that for awhile now, so stiff and awkward...

Oh well, will probably still play anyways.

Animations appear to still be a bit stiff or floaty though I do understand they are mimicking the Symphony of Night game in particular where Alucard also appeared this way with how he moved and controlled in general.

The 2D like characters and artwork also clashes with the 3D environment and other elements drawn in a more realistic style though the early 3D castlevania games also had this problem compared to the 2D installments from what I remember.

Other than that? Well I have no idea they still seem to showcase some early castle areas but hopefully the game is coming along even if it's at a slow pace. Smile

EDIT: And that death effect is bad.

Bad animations and shitty environments that looks at least 2 generations behind is to be expected from japanese developers.

It's using UE4 too so I wonder how they'll fare optimizing the game and one of the stretch goals was a WiiU port but it was since changed to Switch which UE4 now has support for (And from checking the config file on UE4's Github page they use some pretty aggressive settings including resolution scaling for that platform.) though hopefully Iga can make a good spin-off for Castlevania but I wonder if he has the development team and finances for it.

Going to be hard with people comparing it to Symphony of the Night and trying to match what that pulled off back in the 1990's though I'm hoping it'll just be a good game even if it might not be a groundbreaking entry.

Castlevania went back and forth through numerous installments and different leads, doubt this is in any risk of turning into something like Might No.9 trying to turn into a new Mega Man or Shroud of the Avatar proving that Garriot needs a good team to build the next Ultima game.
(I don't think he's even involved much with the current development, wonder what actually happened there, besides how he launched into space...)

Is anyone else really bored of these vapid whores they cart in to interview people? It's obvious that they don't care about video games at all.

I'm sick of looking at the BORED expression on some cunt's face when she reads questions she doesn't even understand. Wow this industry's a pile of crap.

The backgrounds need a lot of work.

They look like something a student did for his Maya 3d class

Not just the backgrounds. The player and npcs don't look like they're part of the world and it just feels wrong.

This.

If just one guy (well, mostly one guy) can make such a beautiful and flawless game as Dust: An Elysian Tail then surely it's reasonable to expect a better result than what we've got when it comes to Bloodstained. And it's not one man, it's 2, even if they are small, studios...so..what's their excuse huh?

tbh my expectations for this are very low.

I loved Castlevania SOTN but this looks like it will fall flat on it's face.
This looks like what might no9 is to megaman but for castlevania if you get what i mean.

Besides why the fuck does it take so long anyhow?

Moved to 2019, Vita version also cancelled.

Quote:

Hi everyone, IGA here.

There are two important announcements we would like to make in this month’s update.

Our first announcement is that the game will now launch in 2019. The most important reason for this is to raise the quality level, especially after all the very valuable feedback from the Beta Backer Demo.

The second announcement is that the game will no longer launch on PlayStation Vita. This decision is largely due to Sony’s plans to discontinue the Vita console, ending production of physical copies and stopping certain online store support features.

It is extremely unfortunate, but as a result, we won’t be releasing the game on Vita. For the backers who have ordered the PS Vita version of the game, you will be able to choose another platform or request a refund.

Nothing too surprising if Sony is pushing for discontinuing Vita support and features soon and the delay being as a response to feedback is nice so it's due to polishing the game up further and not just shifting the release window or something like that. Smile
