Try clearing your cookies for the site. |
Clearing cookies works but I seem to get it at least once a day.
Edit: Wasn't using ABP but you reminded me I need to install it. Reinstalled the OS about a week ago or so.

Interesting. Notice how many cookies you have that shouldn't be there (tracking cookies?).
But still not entirely sure why this happens... Perhaps a server admin (garus? ) could comment on this.

The cookies that don't belong are the data_cache and field_cache cookies (made by the custom titles addon I guess), the others are google-analytics or nfohump cookies. Even the people who use adblocks will get the same problem when a few more people start using custom titles, because the maximum size for the cookie header is 8kB.
To fix you could load all the custom titles for every page view, and allow the list to be cached by the client to reduce traffic and load time.

Thank you for your reply!
Can you elaborate on methods on caching at the client side? With the GreaseMonkey script I can use internal GM facilities, and I assume there are similar such spaces for the extension, but is there anything available that is more general? I am currently troubled by Google Chrome support (and possibly Opera) - Chrome users use the same script as the GreaseMonkey users, but there is no support for the GM caching facilities.

I meant the same caching regular html files and images use. Just make sure to send out expires and cache-control headers and optionally 304/Not Modified results. (I've never used GreaseMonkey, so I don't know if it uses browser caching, if it doesn't you could embed some javascript in the page that gets the file with custom titles)

I think the JBeckman ones are fakes, but lets see if he can comment.
garus, can you see if you can add what Rinze suggests to the server headers:

I'm not sure if this will work, or how to even test that it works, but it is worth a try. If it does, I will remove the use of cookies altogether.

You did? My bad, I really don't know that much about server-side web technologies (neither did I JS or JSON ).
So the only modification I need is to remove cookie caching? Also, maybe for post voting, caching is not required? Because it will make it problematic.

Can you remove the caching for voting completely, like it is now? I don't use cookies for voting.

So I can start removing the cookies then? Any other modification I have to do on the JS? Now is the time for suggestions.

And the "Clean Cache" button is now not needed... I almost feel sad!

Yes, it works! Traveling to different pages doesn't change the content, while clicking F5 works! Nice!
