Xbox 360 emulator Xenia now supports DirectX 12, first Halo 3 DX12 screenshots revealed

The development team behind Xenia, the best Xbox 360 emulator, has been making some progress and decided to completely ditch the Vulkan API in favour of DirectX 12. As such, and for the time being, Xenia is now exclusive to Windows 10 and the team has shared the first screenshots from Halo 3 being emulated in this latest DX12 version of Xenia.
The team has made impressive steps towards emulating this title, though it’s not close to being perfectly emulated. Also, the team did not include any framerate counter so we don’t know how the game actually runs on it. Still, and since Microsoft has not announced yet the Masterchief Collection for the PC, this may be the only way PC gamers will be able to experience Halo 3 on their machines.
Alongside Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST, Halo 4 has just started rendering and Halo: Anniversary actually shows the opening movie now. As such, we may actually be able to play some of those older Halo games on our machines in the near future.
Last but not least, the team aims to convert Xenia back to Vulkan at a later stage (we don’t know though whether there are options for DX12 AND Vulkan).

Of course I am on win 8, why would I update, to have shit forced down my throat? Maybe in the future with some of those apps that beat the OS into submission.

But 8 is just a shitty more flashy version of 7 without any of the optimisations and improvements of 10 it's like the worst of both OS
This latest build at least got Lollipop Chainsaw to load for me now which did not work 2 months ago but I keep getting the Compiling Shaders pop up all the time so it still does not make for a great gameplay experience currently.
The Darkness with rpcs3 is coming along. Models are fixed but it's bright, pink, dithered and 10 fps on my pc.

30 FPS outside in this Game isn’t what I call playable.
And this is considering there are no graphical issues even though they are minor.
Still impressive nonetheless.

"Fully playable" in emulation terms just means that you can launch the game and finish it. It has nothing to do with the experience being polished, glitch-free or even remotely enjoyable.
.. and now they can make good money off the initiative they tried to kill at birth - I know the history with Bleem is different than that of PCSX, but you can bet that if they won that lawsuit we wouldn't have PCSX, PCSX2 or RPCS3 today.

I don't think so. They could exist the same way Lame MP3 encoder have existed all this time - in the form of source code which counts towards "freedom of speech" and a description how one solution can be implemented. You would have to chase unofficial builds around the internet, but no company could prevent that.
