You can put a mercenary in any advisor position, although they don't get any of the special narrative events when you rank up their stat.

As for Treasurer specifically, in the base game you can also recruit Bartholomew Delgado, the wizard you meet during the Troll Trouble chapter (assuming you save him and don't piss him off), and if you have the Wildcards DLC, Kanerah. Additionally,

Indeed, but you probably picked an inopportune time to try it out. Owlcat have seriously fucked it over since the definitive edition (turn-based update), introducing all manner of new bugs with every patch. I was hankering for a new playthrough but at this rate I'm probably going to have to go back to the isodemo version at v2.08 (the last stable/pre-definitive edition version) with the turn-based mod. With Wrath being their priority, I have a feeling that they may just end up abandoning it at some point next year if they can't manage to get a handle on it soon.

I liked this so much even with the technical issues, I instantly backed the sequel. If they can use this as a basis and improve upon it, it'll be considered a classic like BG2 and PS:T in 10 years. Buuuuuuut I said this same thing about Dragon Age 2, something terrible happened Sad

Well from what I hear from people playing the Wrath alpha, I don't think you have too much to worry about.

Since the start of the game is by far the most challenging part, and (as with most RPGs) it gets easier towards the end, you might want to consider the difficulty curve mod. Although I'm not entirely sure if it works on the latest version. But even so, yeah, starting on Hard for your first playthrough probably isn't wise.

Actually, the end is quite broken if you don't have a specific perk on all characters.

Came back to this after BG3 EA .. back then I managed to play 1-3hrs at most.

Decided to give it more time and it actually clicked after a while, i love the Pathfinder ruleset so that helps, was a bit annoyed with cartoony art style but its not so bad after a while with some dark locations too.

Got into the kingdom bit and thats quite interesting, better than POE stronghold or pirate ship.
Had to restart/remake my character couple of times though due to bad decisions Smile party composition seems to be fairly important in this game.

True enough, which is why you probably don't want to be starting on Hard for your first playthrough. It's definitely a game that benefits from meta-knowledge.

World Map Navigation is a big negative for me, it just feels way too cluttered with useless crossroads and stop points.

I didn't have the perk. I used buffs, and it worked out great - and it was on Hard, right after launch, before they made it easier.

Yes, I did sweat a bit. The final boss felt like a final boss should. Was great! Loved it!

It's not a big deal on lower difficulty levels, but on the higher ones you generally want to have the following feat on all your characters:

When is BG3 even supposed to come out? in a year? it certainly seems like the less interesting game of the two, way more going for mass appeal...

The two are very different animals. Kingmaker (and Wrath of the Righteous) are the true spiritual successors to Baldur's Gate and the other Infinity engine games. BG3 is much close to something like Dragon Age (as well as DOS, obviously). Having isodemoed the BG3 EA, I see no reason why you can't enjoy both. Each have their own distinct appeal.

The main difference is that its quite easy to find modern games similar to e.g DOS, DA.. they're just easier games to make than something like Pathfinder.

You absolutely can enjoy both.

But for the vast majority of DnD fans and fans of cRPGs Pathfinder is a lot, lot, lot better.

makes me wonder what would be your godly judgement on Solasta Very Happy
Given its DnD 5e , but the presentation and prodocution values are similar to Kingmaker

that comes down to the rulesets as pathfinder is pretty much modified the "good old DnD ruleset " and BG3 is the hated and simpliefied 5e

Luckily going from the trading outpost back to Jamandi was automatic, it would have taken far longer than 12hrs!

There is actually a bonus reward for completing it within one month. I've managed it a couple of times but it's pretty hard. The reward is also pretty shit (a +2 duelling sword).

The real reward for completing it early is you get an extra couple of months to develop your Kingdom before the next chapter starts, which is quite useful as, depending on your choices, you can accrue a lot of negative kingdom effects during the chapter.
