Very Happy my bad.

I personally had 0 issues with the restoration mod. other than the hk factory scene, everything else felt like it was put in the game by the devs.

yep, completed the game, never had a single bug of any sort. to quote myself, so you are sure it's not out of bad memory Very Happy

In retrospect, I would say that the HK factory is the only thing that felt a tiny bit unfinished, but it's very short.

Just to follow up on the restoration mod.

Not a single amateurish thing, voice over, or bug. I didn't even notice I had a mod installed.

Even the HK droid factory, that was completely cut out of the game, had the original actor VO.

The restoration one sounded good Crying or Very sad

I wouldn't be too broken up, from what I have heard not only is it pretty buggy, it's also pretty crap, with some fairly dubious choices in the restorations. K1RP strikes me as on the same level as M4-78, i.e. shitty and tedious fan fiction that is better off avoided.

That's TSL. He said he was talking about K1. It has its own restoration project.

@Interinactive
If you get it to work, pm me how you did it.
The best I could do with Flawless Widescreen was to have it work (modded as well) once, and then never again. There's an old tutorial on a Steam community page which I used to get it to work.
https://steamcommunity.com/app/32370/discussions/0/810923021632592525/

Try it. Maybe it'll work permanently for you.

Sounds like that fixes most of the major bugs they introduced. Given what they said on the Steam forums a while back, this is presumably the final patch.

That was a cool read.

For anyone that may not know, KotOR 2 was patched back around 2015 to natively support modern resolutions and implement Steam Workshop support. It literally takes 1 click to install the Content Restoration mod and you're ready to go - completely hassle free (unlike the four hoops you have to jump through to get the original to display properly )

Yeah, Aspyr did the upgrade, but only for Steam. GoG version and Star Wars DVD Collection from several years ago were left as they are. Jerks.

(I have KotOR 1 & 2 on both Steam and as said Collection, but still not cool)

The Steam version is shit. The Aspyr version introduced a number of bugs, and the Workshop implementation is fucking terrible (multiple Workshop mods will almost certainly break your game). Stick with the GOG version, patch the exe for widescreen, and use TSLPatcher-based mods.

Wrong! Steam version is the tits, I played through the game on that a while ago with the restoration mod and a few aesthetic mods. Along with a mod to get rid of a persistent sound on the ship.

Oh boy Rolling Eyes

Let me elaborate.

Win9x series, essentially being a bunch of legacy 16-bit system libraries and drivers (meaning shared address space and cooperative multitasking) slapped onto 32-bit kernel with a shoddy driver model, were great and fast for gaming but fundamentally unreliable for any kind of serious or taxing work.
On the other hand, Win NT 4.0 was solid and stable due to pure 32-bit environment with hardware isolation, but not a PnP OS and almost useless for multimedia and gaming.

Windows 2000 was an attempt to combine stable NT kernel with best of both worlds (PnP, less need for restart on system reconfiguration, improved WDM driver model, proper DirectX integration at OS level), but as far as I can remember it got polished enough only at Service Pack 3 level (I was using Win2000 and WinXP in paralel until 2005).

Windows XP is mostly an update to Win2000, no fundamental changes but more built-in drivers, support for GUI skinning at OS level (although you can internally skin your app in Win2000 the same way XP does it, by intercepting draw calls), ClearType, UX polish etc. Also people got more RAM in the meantime, so system requirements were not as horrible as when Win2000 was released.

It's essentially the same story with Vista and 7. Vista brought some really neat technology (SuperFetch, GUI acceleration via Direct3D, better audio subsystem, Enhanced Video Renderer) but it came too early, had too high hardware requirement for the time, and was initially full of bugs. At SP2 level it's practically as fast and stable as Win7 (have been using them both), which updated some components but it's essentially the same OS, no fundamental changes.

So what's funny?
