was lucky and won this in our steamgift group. Having never played this, when it came out, i didn't know anything about it. SO finally i got around to play an hour and damn. Thats story telling. Really love it so far. Only thing that i hate (in general) is the third person aspect. Why not first person Sad

Those levels (as they are now) would be horrible in first person.

Finished it two times on two hardest difficulties. It took me total 23hrs while campaign is only 4 hrs long. Probably the hardest game I've played.

Nice single player, gameplay is standard GoW clone. What annoys me more is the toggle-on-off running ....

I knew someone would say that... I was talking about the storyline as this is the important part of the game Razz

and the gameplay itself was solid. There isn't much you can invent there anyway. And the game as a whole was top notch.

its obvious route for most developers. Guess Spec ops sold like shit. After all games with something like "story and atmosphere" don't sell as much as pewpewdie kind of games Vomit

Facepalm indeed..
I wonder if they'll take the 'authentic' route a-la Medal of Honor, that should guarantee instant success!

are you being sarcasting about the game being unique or ? Philosopheraptor

Also, can someone remind me what was so good story wise in this game? I don't remember anything in game actually making me care.

I completed the game, enjoyed it, but its still just a very generic gears of war clone.

Because it didn't glorify war... It's about as anti cod as you can get, because it was a dark story about the deconstruction of the main character, where his gung-ho rah rah cod-style mentality essentially destroys everything around him.

The fact you compared it to GOW leads me to suspect you got bored of - and switched off to - the story at a very early point in the game, so it's not surprising you didn't think much of it, because without the narrative, all you're really left with is a handful of cool songs and some very generic combat.

The story was anti-cod, that doesn't make it good. I found it super-tiring and unfilfilling. Yeah, yeah, he's losing his mind and he's actually the bad guy, what else ? Nothing else, everyone saw the end coming. Not to mention the way everything falls apart is not believable for me.

Just because it's not a tacticool/cod/americafuckyeah story it doesn't make it good. For me it only had a couple of nice moments, like fighting your dead comrade etc. Enough with this ball-licking in this thread. Laughing

Gameplay-wise they played it super-safe and made a mediocre unreal-powered GoW clone with repetitive battles and a setting that got boring (all that sand...). And the publisher tacked on some copy/pasta multiplayer mode.

For comparison's sake, Syndicate had a little more interesting story *imo* with better twists. It also had more interesting combat and boss battles. Also, more varied maps and enemies and abilities. Also it looked better.

Ehehe I liked Spec Ops, finished it gladly. But I got tired of hearing about its uniqueness and hopes for a sequel, as if we'll be missing anything now that they are innovating with an unreal-powered f2p military sim. (Those guys are geniuses, lmao)

Again, in the battle of the generic shooters, I preferred Syndicate.

P.S.: They should have made a MOBA.
