Absolutely! I've recently replayed it with all the goodies (MEUITM + its specific ini tweaks, proper FOV, ambient occlusion/AA forced via drivers, downsampling and even Reshade for some artificial sci-fi beams), it definitely holds up well for a game that was released a decade ago. There is actually another mod that was recently updated and I didn't get to try (ALOT), it is compatible with MEUITM and should fix many of the generic low-res looking textures left.

Yeah that was ALOT. Never heard of the aforementioned extra mods. Worth a shot next time I play the trilogy

I'd suggest getting over your pride guys and especially get over the "lacklustre graphics" part and continue to listen what he has to say.

Because he does point out a lot of very important and very true points and they mostly turn around the plot and never about the graphics.

For those that don't want to sit through an hour of that guy droning on, here's the summary.

The writing sucked.
The plot sucked.
The characters (specifically yours) sucked.
The villain sucked.

These four points, taken together, mean the game sucked, even though it was "technically competent" after being patched up.

There, I just summarized in five sentences what took him almost an hour to articulate. You're welcome. Very Happy

I think it's an above average game. It has some drawbacks like unpolished animations at some points, on the nose virtue signalling to the point where half the NPCs you see in the world are blue haired brown women with some unrealistic facial features Confused And other elements that show who the writers were, better watch your ass and don't drop the soap, let's put it like that. Also, some annoying characters and weird dialogue.

But the combat is reasonably good, there is some exploration, there's some stuff to do. After a point you reach the level cap, though Sad

It's good to pirate and do a playthrough.

The gameplay itself is solid and the graphics are good, too. What it lacks is

a) a compelling story
b) an actual enemy (links with point a)
and c) actual ending storylines.

A lot of things are just let open and it makes no sense.

A lot of the storylines simply are missing an ending and most things just are never explained, to begin with.

It's basically a sandbox open world without much of a story.

So if no polish for a $60 title doesn't bother you.
A bad story
Poor animation.
Open-ended / no ending
Supporting EA
Lots of pointless side quests with poor writing sounds good.

there are many many better games you could sink 30-40 hours into.

It's a complete lackluster. The gameplay is enjoyable for the first few hours, but everything gets repetitive and boring fast. There is no hook in this game, the story is terrible, the planets are not interesting, etc. You can imagine how much effort they put into this game when on each planet you find the same kind of creatures.

i decided to give it another chance, and after 4-5 hours i think director/designer Ian Frazier should be fired and get restraint order from keyboard and mouse, why in the hell are so many same unskippable animations when jumping from planet to planet, and leaving the planet and entering planet, missions are really hard to track, unless you turn them on in journal, amazingly annoying, what is interesting after the last patch game is really still a huge bugfest where i want to slap Ian Frazier in the fucking face and tell him you are fucking idiot. For finishing one mission on some planet, i must watch 4-5 unskipabble animations, and when mission is finished again watch 4-5 same animations when going to next planet, very annoiyng. And upgrading/researching is confusing as fuck. Fuck you Ian.

Bought this for 11 Euro.

It was a good investment, as I like the game. Probably because I was not blown away by any Mass Effect game before, so I guess my expectations were close to none here.

What I like:

- roaming around planets / even the back and forth through the small and large parts of the universe scratches an old itch I always had about space and exploration
- combat
- camera (modded) + immersion + graphics + huge world + details
- the average IQ speech / dialogue of some characters (as weird as it may sound, it makes them less artificial for me, hehe - dumb senators' offspring make a lot of sense in this context)

What I don't like:

- bit too long (?)
- I can see how things can become boring / repetitive
- would say story but I see none, so I can't dislike something that's missing (probably Bioware planned some sort of "build your own story" plan, but I don't think that worked for most people)

Good game overall. Too bad EA's bad image buried this game deeper than it deserved.

I suggest pirating this game because it's hard to tell if you will like it or not. Laughing

Also, when the game gives you a quest like "Scan scavengers' bodies 0/10" ... I suggest you laugh it off and proceed with the quests that have to do with the main story or the companions. Trust me, leave your OCD behind when you embark on this journey Laughing

I never focused on a SINGLE quest at once. Exploring a certain area will always lead to some objectives than need to be done there. So it all comes pretty "natural" when you are not chasing specific such "fetch"-type quests.

In a way, it kinda works like an MMO and I am used with these mechanics (I still play WoW). So no problem here. Smile

No. Just some XP and AVP, plus random Ryder comments.

No tasks are really "worth it". Neither are most sidequests.

Also the main quest is nothing to write home about.

Human idiotic garbage imo.
Let's see how they'll react after anthem gets bad reviews.

Looks not so promising already tbh.

Those were at least two and if the head dev/managment doesn't punish such behaviour it shows that they tolerate it.

People got fired over much less.

Quote:
25 May: Mike Jungbluth, currently senior animator on Anthem at BioWare posts [ this ] ( https://archive.fo/XCqUR#selection-3593.0-3620.0 ) about the situation.

26 May: Casey Hudson, General Manager at BioWare [ shares his thoughts ] ( https://twitter.com/CaseyDHudson/status/1000442738578370561?s=19 ) about David Crooks and TotalBiscuit, seemingly unaware of Mike Jungbluth's tweets.

27 May: Mike Jungbluth [ apologizes ] ( https://twitter.com/lightbombmike/status/1000913368419524608 ) for his comments regarding TotalBiscuit and David Crooks.

So yeah he had to apologize forcibly because of company image and anti shitstorm tactics.

Imo certain game companies are full of SJWs and bioware is one of those unfortunately.

At least for me their stance on ME:A failing because it wasnt their fault just shows how self centered and unreasonable.

What's the problem with this? If you dislike it or you are not interested, you can avoid it with ease.

They are just trying to salvage anything they can so Anthem sales don't suffer.
