Anyone knows if the xbox version really is still in development? I mean the OFP1 xbox version... Heard about it started a few years ago and then nothing. Oh one thing they said "we will put all resources on the xbox version and thereafter concentrate on some other projects" something like that...
Dammit OFP will never ever work on any console as the game is too complex for that small little controller to handle...

Some info taken from another forum. and since info on this game(s) always are interesting you might wanna know as well.
<snip>
Here's what's going on:
Codemasters and Bohemia Interactive have cut their relationship. Codemasters retains the right to the Operation Flashpoint name.
What Bohemia Interactive is making: Armed Assault is OPF 1.5 (late 2005). It seems to be the original OPF with a new engine, as well as new stuff. Hence the nickname 1.5. OPF 2 is scheduled for late 2006. Unfortunately, at this point in time, they have no publisher any more and they can't use the OPF name.
What Codemasters is doing: making an OPF2, developed by someone else, or in-house. They can use the name and they will. It's been announced on their forums.
These are the facts. Now my opinion. All this sucks, if only for the confusion that's gonna arise with the names. Then there's Codemasters banking on a name whose reputation they had nothing to do with. OPF was arguably one of the best games ever (though not graphically, but the gameplay more than made up for that).
Reading what's coming in OPF2 leaves me drooling with envy: things such as being really part of a war, where units are fighting all around you for miles on end ; open missions where you get an overall objective and you can achieve it whichever way you want to ; buildings modelled brick by brick, each with its unique physical behaviour, meaning that there's no pre-rendered model of a destructed building. It will be real-time and only the bricks you blow up with disappear, with the ones on top falling according to calculations. And now Codemasters plans on releasing something called OPF2 before the one from Bohemia Interactive. And somehow I doubt it would match what BI can make: 5 years in the making for BI, less than a year for Codemasters. Yeah ok... Bah... I hope they can patch things up. A lot of people say it's possible because nobody's talking as to why they split up. Who knows...
<snip>
and here are some info from a guy who works at Codemasters
<snip>
Operation Flashpoint fans are hardcore military fans....they are the people that love realism, decent core gameplay and an involving storyline....we know that. Now to make a BF42 clone for the Flashpoint community which has built up over the lat 5 years would be the most inappropriate thing a company could do, plus insulting to top it off. Flashpoint 2 will be a Flashpoint game for Flashpoint fans, period.
We want to bring the game on to the next generation of realism and immersiveness. We have alot of feedback from the community about what they want to see in the game and this has been incorporated in our Design and Development process and we will deliver on the promise.
I personally cannot comment on the BIS game and won't start a playground argument about it. I have a good relationship with Placebo and wish to maintain that.
<snip>
... but even worse, it releases satan.

The models for this game are some of the worst i've seen, looks like they're carved out of wood, totaly lifeless. Hope gameplay will be good.

The models look awesome when taking into consideration what they are trying to achieve.

Just because i think the models suck i havent played the original? That doesn't make any sense. I have played the original and i still think the models suck. If gameplay is a good as the original it wont matter much, but it would've been nice to see better models, considering everything else looks OK they could've done a better job with the models.. But who knows, they may be improved.

I think the models looks nice, a little bit "woody" as Vurt says but thier fine. But the gfx looks really good, I just hope that the huge landscapes won't demend a strong PC.

BI knows the model issue, they said its getting fixed, a lot of the models are just placeholder models, pure WIP. They're still working on the new core engine, since its going to be used for armed assault as well. AA will be OFP2 engine with OFP1 gameplay and models etc. most of them just graphically updated.
OFP2, or better AA2 as its called in the community now, will feature an even more enhanced AA engine, completely new models, completely new AI and gameplay system (large-scale operations, not really possible in OFP1 yet) etc.

it's kind of sad that were getting this (ArmA (OPFP 1.5)):
and have to wait another year for this(the REAL OPFP2, also by BHI) (which looks awesome)
But then again, ArmA will prolly be very good anyway (but certanly not visualy, I see very little change compared to the original one).
And I can't find any info or screens on OFP2 (the codemasters one).
... but even worse, it releases satan.

I hope they don't make graphics too intensive. I'd prefer large scale battles than nice graphics and small number of soldiers on the battlefield. If they will make graphics awesome you'll need a monster of a computer to play large scale battles.
GAMEPLAY > GRAPHICS, that's why OFP was so good
