Everyone saw this coming. As with Titanfall 2, this is not a game for the masses. Very few gamers nowadays are interested in a game with complex movement mechanics and challenging shooting. No arena shooter in the last years has managed to survive for very long, this subgenre's days are sadly over...

Free content is coming:

This too. I've missed this gameplay, and in going to play it till it's dead and enjoy it while I can.

They need to pull out a miracle if they want to save this game now. With cca 300 players daily it's pretty much beyond saving if they don't rethink their whole marketing strategy and most importantly Bleszinski needs to ditch his ego. What the fuck did he expect? That his game will sale just because he was some big face a decade ago?

With OW taking almost all casual players and Quake having the more competitive ones, LW was doomed a long time ago, but they didn't bother with it and now the players who bought it suffer and they also.

It has some interesting ideas and it plays pretty fluidly, but ideas are not enough to succeed.
They need to consider the idea of releasing the game as a F2P model or lower the price to like 10, max 15$ and market the hell out of it, while also fixing most of the balance issues.

Also the game feels like they want to attract both casual and competitive players and because of that the game is torn apart. They released matchmaking which broke the playerbase completely since there wasn't enough player to begin with and even more people left after that.

And as someone said here, characters are... uhm... who the fuck are those characters in game? As much as i got bored of OW, Blizzard did a lot of things exceptionally good with that game and they should copy some of the approaches from them.

The artistic direction is unappealing and to that extent so are the characters. It's the way they play that makes the cool, not their personality.

They really don't know shit about marketing and they are showing that over and over again. Why would they make free weekend on the same date as CoD? This game is already hard dead and they won't accomplish a lot this weekend to make things better.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing when I saw the announcement. It's like whoever is in charge of marketing for Boss Key hates the company or the game.

I enjoyed my brief time with the beta, and I look forward to it going F2P in the near future. Laughing

I'm hoping this brings in more players. I bagged the fuck out of Nexon for their shitty lack of marketing. "Hue hue we're not giving up on it yet!" You fuckwads gave up before the game was even released.

It will bring in more players - for the weekend Laughing Question is, what can the devs do to retain as many of them as possible?

It's not appealing to casuals because of the learning curve, and the people who enjoy skill based competitive shooters are already invested in other games.

It's kinda far fetched to call Overwatch a skill based shooter with those floaty shooting mechanics and a design philosophy pro casuals.

I haven't touched it in a while. I was hoping that free weekend was going to bring in some more players but it really didn't do anything. Some of us have been asking them to just abandon the match making system since it's no longer of any use and just implement a server browser.

Ironically, it's actually doing hell of a lot better on ps4 than it is pc.

The Game Slashers wrote:

Lawbreakers is a throwback to the glory days of arena shooters but with enough tinkering to look appealing in the new age. However, the game’s fresh take on a once popular subgenre hasn’t managed to find its audience. The reasons for LawBreakers’ commercial failure are many. An oversatured FPS market has led many games to ruin as the genre’s giants leave room only for particularly niche titles. And while one can argue that LawBreakers is a niche title itself, the underwhelming marketing campaign failed to set it apart from games like Overwatch. Ultimately, these problems lead to a slow start which rapidly lowered the playerbase keeping potential customers away from the game out of fear.

I’m not sure if LawBreakers can be saved at this point in time, but I don’t regret the many hours I’ve spent with it. I hope Boss Key Productions find a way to revitalize the game and bring more players to it because LawBreakers deserves a much higher playerbase.

It won't happen.
This is the kind of game where you get only one chance and that's it. And he blew it because he thought that he is some kind of god in gaming world. He needs to realize that he is no one and his name doesn't mean shit nowadays. His ego is so big that after the obvious fail, the game still costs 30 euro.

The game is dead and it will stay dead and there is nothing it can save it right now. And even if it was, we are at the end of the year where other big names are coming out so no one will even bother looking at it.

Edit: Broken piece of early access shit in which is Quake right now has more players than LW had month after the release.

For my part, I had a less than stellar experience in the free beta with some wonky graphical issues, and also good ol' cliffy b's attachment to the game. A prime example of why burning bridges and calling an entire demographic losers that weren't worth the effort (pretty much), and then coming to them later with no remorse and having the fucking audacity to actually fucking look for support and love, isn't the wisest of business moves.

Doesn't help that people are snowflakes these days. "Oh boo hoo this guy I don't know said this on the internet so now I won't play his game"

The irony is these are all people on forums and have said plenty of stupid shit.

What actually killed the game was Nexon. They did Fuck all for marketing and for the longest time we only got people wandering in because someone else had mentioned it. I've yet to run into a single ad or any marketing material. I never even saw a banner for it on steam. They should have went with Focus for a publisher.
