Nah, it really is a EE game, like their previous ones. But they're not adding content, I think it's similar to what they did with Icewind Dale.

I don't know if they specified in which universe the game would take place, but it's true they hired around 5 narrative designers to work for David Gaider.
Since even Dragonspear didn't have that many writers on it (total of 3, all left the company), it's safe to say they were all hired for Beamdog's own game. But we still don't know details on that one.

No writer worked on this beta project. They even asked Chris Avellone if he wanted to add something to it, and he didn't seem interested in adding more to what he wrote... previously.

@Kanint
But what other games are there, besides BG and ID, if it really is an EE?
ID 2?

// Or Planescape Torment EE? Shocked

Wink

But don't expect anything significant to change. This might be the smallest EE they make as they work on their own game.

The genderless one and his politically correct skull companion Morte? Razz

Eh I doubt they'd change it that extensively, probably add some romance bit on Anha or what that fiends name was (Well quasi-fiend or whatever, thiefling?) since it kinda cuts you short in the main game.

Forgot all the other ones kinda, Daikon the Zhen well something and his nine-rings of understanding you could fiddle with and then there's Hope or Glory or whatever her name was who ran that brain-bordello of intellectual pleasure, some Modron cube thing and a Warrior (V something.) who I've never managed to actually get while playing the game.
(Got me a little green grasshopper thing though, ended up being shadow drained tho.)

Been ages since I replayed that game, all the little stupid things you could do (Do you mock worship the doll of the lady of pain or do you do a real prayer? And then it's off to the maze of fun assuming you didn't already piss her off once at which point it's decidedly less fun...)

EDIT: Almost forgot about Ignis too, he's certainly flamboyant. Razz

(And stuff like being able to jump between alignments and classes, tattoo's for "armor" and try as you might you won't see a single sword anywhere in the game aside from one rare quest item instance.)

EDIT: And playing as the ugliest mofo in the entire D&D universe. Very Happy
(Well probably not, considering the circumstances and all that it's not too bad heh.)

So far, they insist that this is the same game content-wise. Even popular mods like Unfinished Business or Qwinn's Fixpack won't be included in regard to modified content (only bug fixes are recreated in the new engine).
This is apparently a decision made by Chris Avellone, who's the Lead Designer and decided to only clean up the dialogue but keep content the same.

Interesting so it's almost a exact re-release (Well the underlying engine is probably revamped a bit to be more compatible with modern systems again.) but with some minor adjustments and probably the usual bug fixing then?

Well if it's like the other Infinity Engine "Enhanced Edition" releases then if there are popular modifications those will be updated for the new edition so that shouldn't pose a problem at least. Smile

Yeah, it seems the biggest focus is making the game stable (since even modded, PsT remained a bit buggy) and the new interface.
They made almost no change to the UI with BGEE, but they've been making more and more with each game. They added a floating combat text window, and a mod (already working on PSTEE) allows to resize it and move it around. You can have it at the bottom (as usual), you can stretch it to the side of your window, or stretch it to take over the whole top of the screen.
Same guy also made a mod which adds bags in PSTEE (similar to bags in BG) to let people organize their inventory a bit more. And seems there's a tiny quest linked to the largest bag.

They've made some good progress on the engine, and it's nice to see they constantly bring those changes back to the previous EE they've made. The only thing that worries me about PSTEE is the price. So far, all of their games have the same price: 20$. BGEE, BG2EE, IWDEE and Dragonspear are all 20 bucks. PSTEE is easily the new best way to play the game, and has improved mod support, but I wouldn't really pay 20$ to replay the game.

Bright side: they give deep discounts during steam sales. BGEE is 75% off righ tnow, BG2EE and IWD are 60% off. Can get them for 5 to 8$. If PSTEE releases for 20$, I'd wait for a sale and then insta-buy on sale.

Thanks, didn't know about those details. Avellone did the right thing in my opinion, PST really doesn't need any additions as it's already achieved perfection writing-wise.
Besides, just imagine what could possibly happen if that certain audience was the target of the aforementioned new additions: http://archive.is/lGJ0v Okay Laughing

After all that happened, I almost regret buying the two Bee GEEs on sale to be completely honest, and I'll have to resist the temptation to grab the new one, but it isn't easy dammit. My resistance will be futile when confronted to rae$h Sad
