Holy shit have any of you guys actually beaten this game? I've trying again (3rd time) reinstalled the game and loaded a save about 80% through the campaign. So i've just walked into Hunters Edge.
It's weird, I love the gameplay and combat, multiple ways to do x y z are probably the best I've seen in a game. The writing and side-quest's though in this game honestly have no idea what is happening in the main story. Also procedural generated items constantly filling the inventory, that and they are level scaled > just makes the loot so boring.
I hope they dont use the same loot system for BG3.

When I played the first game I was perhaps at 70-80% but my older PC broke and I lost the savegame and didn't want to play again.
D:OS2 I liked more to be honest. It has better variety in combat, isn't so RNG like the first and is harder in my opinion. As far as I remember in D:OS I used some skills that ignore armor to almost instantly kill enemies which is not possible in the sequel. I reached the last area. maybe that's 90%, but then again I had some RAM problems with the new PC and didn't finish it. At least I have a savegame and if I play from it should be no longer than 5-10 hours to end it.

The first I enjoyed from start to finish. Second I had to force myself towards the end.

Is the second worse? Or are you just tired of the series/genre?

Second is better in every possible way especially writing at least if you are not in to weird belgian humor.

Started this up again and i would seriously hit the fucker who decided to use third perspective dialogue. It spins my head around. I bet i get used to it, but now it's just terrible. Just fucking terrible.

Second one definitely has far inferior atmosphere and music, can't be helped though since their great composer Pokrovsky died a few years ago.

The 2nd one is superior, however the last 1/3rd of the game is tiny and disappointing

Started playing DOS:2.. Graphics is really nice, they have talented artists.
Still, it's too bad they didn't go in a more atmospheric route (like Divine Divinity) with NPC schedules and day night cycles..
For BG i guess at least day/night cycles will be a thing, but i doubt they'll bother with NPC schedules since the originals didn't have them (which i always thought was really lame, coming from games like Ultima 7).
Even without this i think they've nailed the atmosphere, but sometimes it makes me want to just start playing Witcher 3 again because i feel restricted in how i can move etc (no jumping or swimming, no looking up into the sky or into the far distance, wow do i miss that). It'll take some time to adjust.
