Was this game ever patched? I think the Steam version was patched, but I'm not certain. Is the multi9 Prophet version the latest one?

The prophet release has update 1 apparently. I can't find notes for update 2, so I'll just leave it.

You mean the 15 MB thing? Is that it? I assumed it was only the crack. Would it work with the prophet release?

FTS patches are usually xdelta patches, so rather than needed the entire patched content - often running several hundred megabytes - they only patch the changed/different data. Patches end up being a few meg instead Very Happy Though that does mean you often need the prior patches too, unless otherwise specified.

yeah it should work, if it doesn't you have the option to revert back.

do note that demde forgot to add an autoexec for patch 1 in that pack, so you need to run setup.bat from the game folder after extracting patch 1. patch 2 does everything automatically.

I can't seem to install update 2. I tried update 2 on the prophet release, the command prompt gives two errors (checksum mismatch for data.spk and file too short for sli.spk). After this I downloaded the codex release (vanilla version), installed update 1 (no command prompt this time), update 2 gives the same error. I got the FTS updates demde posted. WHat am I doing wrong?

How important is this update 2?

edit: solved thanks to JB

update 1 has to be run manually after the installer, as demde forgot to fully automate it.

Strange game this. I want to say it's a corridor, budget shit RPG, but it seems I am enjoying it. Since I enjoyed War Logs, I assume I'll enjoy this one also. I'm not impressed even slightly by the combat yet, I only played 2-3 hours though. Using the ranger style's Y attack Rambo style, while using dodge heavily, makes it relatively simple.

Have I seen all the awesome the game has to offer in the first few hours, or is there more awesome to come? If the game is stuck on this level of quality untill the end, I might just stop playing. It's enjoyable, but I need more to finish it.

This game is the definition of mediocore. It's not bad, but I can't discover anything good either, There's nothing noteworthy that pushes me on Sad
I'll move on to either Xulima or Valkyria Chronicles. Now to decide which one. White people problems Sad

the only thing that pushed me away from this mediocre thing was .... the combat system ... simple put ,awful animations problems that could stun lock you ... after the chapter dunno 3 when you became a demon ... i got some serious Gothic 3 boar stun lock flash backs ... and started to play gothic 3 , forgetting about this crap... and that's well the problem with this game

wanted Mars Logs 2 got some crappy mediocre medieval Rpg ... thing

Haven't had any issues with getting stun locked. you should have lowered difficulty if you had issues with combat, not blame the game. Razz

Just finished. It's a nice game with a simple straightforward story, no twist or anything which would have a shock effect. Went full demonic. Endings were meh - click a button to choose a good or a bad ending, with no closure on what happened next (watched all endings on youtube and human wasn't any better). Gameplay was both hard and satisfying. Not sure if I would like to replay on the hardest difficulty (unless the second part will be announced) Very Happy

I finally got around to completing this one. I started on Hawk difficulty but became annoyed roughly halfway through the game and switched to recruit. I would say with the exception of the last boss fight, recruit was a bit too easy. I wish there would have been an option between hawk and recruit but most likely I just needed to git gud as they say.

The game is complete cheese but I tend to like those RPG's so no worries there. The combat is challenging and rewarding. I felt the pacing was pretty good with a few exceptions where it seems like they ran out of money or creativity my guess would be money. There were a number of small issues that shouldn't have made it past a QA department: dialogue options staying after quest completed, cut scenes that sometimes seemed schizophrenic likely due to demon path, and being a ranger with heavy armor without penalties?!?

At any rate, I really enjoyed the game but I also liked Gothic 4 / Arcana?!
