I did like 3-4 more story missions after assault battlemechs have been introduced. But after I got my rail gun, things got a lot easier. The fact that I start every battle with a high morale helps a lot as well, I can take a battlemech down from the first round by doing focus fire on ct.
I agree tho, there is a great base to build upon, but sadly that doesn't mean much. There is no certainty that we will get a director's cut for this game and even if we do, it might no add everything that this game needs. One thing that bothers me greatly is that the sense of scale is not properly explored. The factions are nothing more than vendors, there are no side conflicts, no special missions outside of the story. The world is very static and that's disappointing.

My main tank
My side dmg 1
My side dmg 2
My back support
with this lance - it's a walk in the park
too bad you cannot knockdown a mech in 1 salvo :\

I am using Rangefinder+ on my main mech, the Highlander. Why use the injury thing? My main character is immortal!
Also why do you have jump jets on your LRM boat instead of giving it some armor all around to tank a couple of hits? One SRM carrier can obliterate it as it is now I think.

LRM boat with jumpjets and medium armor
that is not a frontline mech, he usually sits in the back, behind an obstacle and either sensor scans or make 1 mech full unsteady, armor is irrelevant, and jump jets help with positioning so he's out of danger, but in sensor lock range
and moving through woods is slow, jumpjets negate that
and when I need to split my lance, 2 jumpjets take the high road, while 2 AC20s go low
also 900 armor, taken out by a single SRM, really?
why does my main has cockpit
because even if he is immortal, he takes downtime to heal up, and this way he can take 2 hits with 0 recovery and keep fighting, he is my best pilot after all
maybe after I have 8 maxed pilots I won't care anymore about healing downtime
also most of my pilots are kickstarters, so they're immortal too - you can find them occasionally on planets
why am I using a medium
because currently I have no other mech, that can mount an AC20

| Quote: | Paradox Interactive acquires BattleTech developer Harebrained Schemes
"Everybody believes this is a great fit".
Paradox Interactive has acquired Harebrained Schemes, the developer behind BattleTech and Shadowrun Returns, for $7.5 million USD, plus a portion of Harebrained's earnings over the next five years.
Harebrained was founded in 2011 by Mitch Gitelman and Jordan Weisman (co-creator of the BattleTech and MechWarrior universe), and most recently released a new, critically acclaimed, BattleTech game, for which Paradox served as publisher.
In a post explaining the acquisition on Paradox's forums, Harebrained said that the both parties "have a shared vision for where to take narrative rich tactical games", and that the arrangement comes as a result of "the excellent experience both companies have had while working together on BattleTech. Everybody believes this is a great fit".
In a separate statement to press, Weisman, Harebrained's CEO, elaborated further, "As the scale of our games has grown and the marketplace has gotten extremely noisy we felt that HBS needed to team up with a company that could provide us the financial stability and marketing expertise that would allow us focus on what we love doing - making great games and stories."
Following the acquisition, Harebrained will become an internal studio and division within Paradox, but will maintain its own internal management and creative teams, "designing and developing the games that have earned them their outstanding reputation". Paradox, meanwhile, will handle finances, marketing, PR, and distribution of Harebrained's output.
Harebrained says it will "continue to focus on what it does best which are tactical games with rich stories" and that it will "have the freedom to creative direct our games and build our player experiences". However, future titles will need to be green-lit via Paradox's publishing process.
Additionally, the studio notes that it will continue supporting BattleTech with updates and further content, and that it's "starting concept development for a new title".
Weisman and Gitelman (Harebrained president) will appear in a live-stream presentation "in the near future" to answer any questions that the community may have regarding the acquisition.
Additionally, Paradox says it will be giving a complimentary copy of Stellaris to everyone that backed BattleTech on Kickstarter "as a token to welcome all fans". |

Shit, I'm not sure I like that idea much. That does explain the radio silence since the first post-release update though. $7.5 mil sounds like chump change though. They should have made double that in Battletech revenue alone. There must be more to the story. I wonder if they had mortgaged themselves up to the eyeballs or something.

I think I read somewhere on reddit - an estimate from some guys that followed the kickstarter closely that it appears that they barelly made even, perhaps made a slight profit.
If this is true the move is undestandable since they don't have to front operating costs anymore and are guaranteed some portion of the profits.

I dunno, the immediate reaction post-release seemed to be that BT had sold well beyond their expectations. Unless they were expecting to be bankrupt the week after launch, something doesn't seem right here.

We also have no idea what their publishing deal was. Maybe they didn’t get much despite it selling well.

It's kind of weird that it took this long to surface. With their obvious heavy SJW leanings, you'd think he would have been outed and fired ages ago.

The timing seems to indicate it might have been kept quiet to not scare Paradox away from buying them.

Possibly, or to finish Battletech's development. I think that was the guy that was the best internal player. I can't remember exactly what he was in charge of, but he was senior enough that he was one of the primary HBS dev posters on the official forums.

Is it really that hard to tell everyone how much of a creep someone is before it escalates into physical harassment?
Also, the pronouns game has a weirdo, why am I not surprised.

Nice.
LLs are sort of viable now and stability damage has been nerfed.

making it impossible to knock down a mech in 1 attack makes stability kind of useless for me either way

Stability is (was) completely op and is the best strategy for salvage. With a good LRM boat with multishot you could make three enemies unstable and then tip them over with the rest of your mechs or get free called shots.
It was also super strange that lights and assaults had the same amount of stability damage.

Holy shit, this is how much they fucked up the balance in the original release. Now they modified the heat generation radically to fix them.
I doubt I used one LLaser in the whole game.

The most important advice is to change up the mechs you get and give them some fucking armor. As they are, they are total shit.
