It already started becoming Smash Brothers with Freddy Kruger and Kratos in MK9. In next games they are gonna try to put as many famous characters as possible to drag in some of their fanbases. Possibly even implementing them into the story as it gets more and more ridiculous as well.

Yeah Auran, games are mean't to be for fun after all true . I think all these crossovers have been have been going on for a while now though haven't they?. I'm just thinking back to when Capcom started releasing the SF vs (SNK, Marvel, Tekken, Capcom, etc etc..), There was Capcom Vs Tatsunoki too, or as what most ppl would probably recognize as Battle of the planets a really old anime from decades ago. In recent games you had Darth Vader and Yoda in Soulcalibur and B2 (Nier), Geralt (Witcher) Haohmaru (Samurai Shodown) from latest SC. Guy and Hagar, poison etc (Final fight+FF villians) popping up in SF. In Tekken you had whats his face from The Walking Dead.. the main villian with the baseball bat.. N.. something, not sure why I can't remember his name right now. Akuma (SF) pops up in a surprising amount of games too!.
Guess it seems to be a trend presently to have all these crossovers, regardless if they actually 'fit' into the franchise or genre in any logical way. I personally don't really mind it either, as it only really means a bigger roster of playable characters for us all to use.
