What I find curious is the fact that not even Italy, which is more religious than USA, would allow these completely insane 'theories' to have such an important media coverage and impact on people.
Yep, same here. Poland is the most religious country in Europe IIRC, but even we don't have batshit insane people like in USA.
A study was conducted recently and the results of it caused a massive panic in the biggest Christian website/paper:
Why it sucks telling people I'm from the USA sometimes.
Take that Im from the USA, and I have a slight southern accent (that sounds like a big one to other countries) and I have to fight an uphill battle almost to convince them Im not a retarded, god fearing, batshit crazy american
I think the fact we even HAVE this type of thing as a serious debate on science in the US, on if a magical space ghost made everything, and that takes 2 hours to do it... is sad enough in itself.
Now add in the fact that not everyone can agree at the end that there was a clear winning side to it...makes us look even more ridiculous.

Debates are pointless. Almost everyone is too stubborn and arrogant to admit being at fault. Especially when it's something major. It's just pointless squabble in the end.
81% of Poles believe in God (though 95% declare themselves as Catholics Don't ask me how that worked out)
Same as it would work if someone asked me. My instinctive reaction would be to say yes, since I am. So are my parents, grandparents and basically everyone in my family.
And yet, even in my parents' generation probably 8 out of 10 don't believe in the existence of any god. Neither of my siblings and none of my cousins do. As for the generation before my parents, probably about 50/50. On my dad's side everyone is pretty much agnostic; all raised Catholic, but most of them don't believe. On my mum's side they all do.
Now whether we're truly Catholic? No, obviously not, since we don't believe. It's more that we've been raised in Catholic tradition, with baptism, communion and what not. So then your instinctive answer is to say yes if someone asks you if you're Catholic
It's called 'cultural christian'. They don't give a flying fuck about imaginary stuff, but still like to go through the motions because of tradition. Especially widespread among jews, lots of them are out and out atheists, but still like the ceremonial aspects of their heritage.
What scares me most with these things is that some of these people are in a position of power.
Forget ghosts, goblins and things that go bump in the night, that is truly terrifying.

I saw things like that in here and in other "woman problems" topics so...... Am I the only one that thinks some authorities needs to be alerted about Saner and him possibly being a rapist and/or kidnapper ?
Saner is not being serious. Unless its the subject of Santa!
I got an 150, but I chose I think 4 answers as "I don't know", when I could have gambled the multiple choice. Also, didn't take more than a minute for each answer, not sure what time limit there is.
The test itself is pointless enough, but what confused me is this statement at the end (got 160..).
"Most people's IQ is 90~100".
Why 90-100? There's theoretically as many people there as between 100-110, so it's not "most people". As an normal distribution with a standard deviation of 15, two thirds of the population should fall between 85 and 115. 95% between 70 and 130.
Probably not saying something new to you guys here, but that note just baffled me..

Think those numbers dropped the past decade and we'll have 2/3 between 75 and 100
Hahah, I don't really disagree with the sentiment behind the statement, but since 100 is always the center and a single standard deviation is always 15, that's technically not possible .
I'm intrigued though.. I wonder if there are studies that compare raw IQ test data sets with one another. If it's possible to line them up and compare that is.
I find it sad that usual the tests just result in pattern recognition tests. Majority of them are predominantly that.
When I was going for job interviews in networking 8 out of ten would give us those tests. So naturally because you are doing them so much you start to be quite good at it. Went to VDAB Antwerp for their new Network Admin course (forced by my local office), yup got a test there. Almost aced it (had 1 mistake) so had a personal talk with them and they were so baffled saying they never seen a result like that. What made it more special for them was that I hadn't finished high school.
To me it's trainable, so I thought it was silly. Guess I'm going to have to do that stuff again once I'm searching for a job here in Sweden. Yeey!

81% of Poles believe in God (though 95% declare themselves as Catholics Don't ask me how that worked out)
Only 48% believe in the death of Jesus Christ on the cross
Only 47% of Poles believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ
Only 38% of Poles believe in Heaven
Only 31% of Poles believe in Hell
Only 30% of Poles believe in Purgatory
Only 28% of Poles believe in the Devil
Only 38% of Poles believe in the immaculate conception
Only 39% of Poles believe in The Final Judgement
Needless to say the Catholic press in Poland went insane after that study
Haha, that's interesting! I think the numbers here wouldn't differ too much .
The Vatican was pretty damn desperate recently because despite the high amount of christians in the country, the church was starting to lose appeal and customers (therefore $$$, which is what only matters for them xD).
As far as I can see, religious people here these days still believe in the curious case of benjeebus story arc, but most of them aren't 100% convinced about that. Same for the other stuff written in the bible, most of that is often considered fictional material, especially the creationist part, which is kinda comforting all things considered. I wouldn't go as far as calling them smart christians because that would be an oxymoron, but still, could be worse
Guys, that is a pretty trolly iq test. It says in the beginning that it is probably the best iq test in 2014 xD
it's also very easy. standard questions. the only question that made me scratch my head was the whole... dotted thing... and then i just clicked a bunch of random buttons... lol everything up to that point was easy. the number sequences were as easy as the ones they give you in math tests in high school. the true and false question was lol
it's a very easy iq test it's a standard test... doesn't measure iq. unless you take it seriously and it takes you 40 minutes to take it.

and still Poland is in second place of a country that produces most priests
