Well it's unfortunate and all but if I read correctly that reveal footage was more like concept or target renders on how the tech could look, actual implementation ended up a bit different.
Happens pretty often.
(Like once a year, generally called "E3" )
OT:
Spoiler:
Codemasters in particular though yeah Ubisoft has been a more recent example.
EDIT: Heh, going back to Ubisoft I didn't know they had a narrative voice-over on their Far Cry 2 promo videos.

(Sounds like those old nature documentary videos.)
EDIT: For this game they are using UE3 too if I remember correctly (Yeah, UE3) though as demonstrated by some games UE3 is pretty flexible, Vanishing of Ethan Carter for one game which also used this photo geometry tech, not a very large game but it looked pretty spectacular, UE4 port ended up looking pretty much identical though requiring better hardware. (Not just due to the switch from DX9 to DX11)
And then there's the Rocksteady Batman Games (+the Origins one.) though the PC ports might have been a bit "problematic" without some post-release patch support.

“From the beginning, the PC was the main platform for the development of Get Even, but we have already begun working on the console version" - Devs, back in 2014
We can see the results now (The concept itself could still be alright, but damn).
Dat dowgrade. From the very first day they've announced this game and talked about how it will look like real life and all that bs, i have just waited to see how that idea and promises will fail. Technology is not yet there to achieve all the things they have talked about, at least not on consumer level.

Farm 51 , should not get the blame ... it was all the publisher Bandai Namco fault , that gave them the funds to end the development of this game... they delayed this game first to 2016... and now to 2017
This game was to be released on PC/Xbone only in 2015 (dev started in 2013)... they hyped this game in Poland like crazy ...as the first game that will use 3D laser scanned environment and people ... this game was revolutionary back in 2014 ... but like they say , funds run out and they started to dev some other titles to keep the studio afloat ...

and some other third part jobs ... they even helped with The witcher back in the day ...
@Hfric: ... BAmco wasnt there at the start , originally 1C was the publisher ... Bamco just took over ... i bet there were some development hell kinda isues
Well Necrovision and Necrovision Lost Company probably didn't sell too well and the Painkiller remake (Well partial remake, story is a bit like a sequel.) I don't think it was too well received either though it was partially due to missing content that was later added as paid DLC.
Not really sure how well they're doing these days but then again Reality Pump is still around despite totally bombing Raven's Cry and then spending a lot of money on a re-release of that game only to have it fail as well.
(The expansion/update for Two Worlds 2 is still seeing progress but it's been pretty slow plus it's just the first of two parts.)
Today, Polish developer The Farm 51 and publisher Bandai Namco announced that their surrealistic horror game, Get Even, which was supposed to launch on May 26th, has been delayed to June 23rdin the light of last night’s attack in Manchester, England.
For those that don’t know: Get Even tells the story of a burned-out mercenary named Cole Black. In the game, there is a scene where Black is faced with the task of freeing a young woman who has an activated bomb around her neck.
Thus out of the respect for the victims in the last night’s Manchester attacks, Bandai Namco has pushed the game back close to a month. The publisher issued the following statement:
“Given recent events and out of respect we have decided to postpone the commercial release of Get Even to June 23rd. We would like to express our deepest condolences to everyone concerned.”
Black - an ice-cold mercenary and hired gun - awakes in a
mysterious old asylum with no memory of his past. Under the
guidance of his anonymous captor, Red, Black embarks on a form of
treatment, facilitated by a unique technology - a headset that
allows the user to relive their memories and experience them again
in the present. And so Black tries to remember.
