Funny how this topic turned from a question towards me to "hey, everyone show off their interwebz speeds"
Should had pmed me Werelds
Btw Werelds, my geolocation is showing as Almere (and sometimes Groningen) for some reason in the past few months..
Because look at distance to server, mine is waaay closer by then yours.. plus your ping is really high for cable tbh.

I was on GPRS the last 4 days... then I got HSPA at night and the next morning I already depleted my 300mb high speed back to gprs for 30 days :'(

That's because they do IP lookups and Ziggo don't actually assign IP to an address

I wasn't exactly leaving my connection unused, I'm usually around 10-12 ms

Wtf, i now have the urge to call them about it and demanding an explanation, but that might fuck you over. So not going to
Did you post these speeds on the ziggo forums yet? See if anyone there has an explanation as to why this is happening?

Oh I know why it's happening
Like I said, they're rolling out DOCSIS 3.1, so they likely are just either experimenting, or they were and forgot to put the cap back in the right place. Not that I mind obviously, so don't you dare calling them

@Photish
So their server that you remotely login to is located in Amsterdam most likely
@Werelds
Well that's ok, i don't care for the download, at least your up is back to normal
I wonder if we are ever going to see proper upload speeds on cable.. or is that impossible?

It's not impossible, in fact, I reckon Ziggo can easily handle 50 or more across their network just fine. It's more a matter of principles, because once you start going higher up, people are going to host all kinds of shit on their network they don't want there.

Your geo location is actually only 50km away from Amsterdam according to that..
Because the xx% faster in country doesn't matter what server you picked, it's the IP location it detects you from, and this one says it's located in the NL.

Well down here for sure around that time
Still can't believe that they decided to divide my town up into area's and they only picked 3 of them.. excluding my area..
Promised that we would get questioned and if 30% wanted it, we would get it anyway.. But this seemed to be a lie here by our local gov.. Nothing will happen in my area and we are stuck to 1 ISP if we want to get proper internet..

So geo locator xxx =/= to geo locator xxx?
They might use a different one that's not properly updated or whatever..
Because here, i used a server in Denmark (and don't mind speeds now, torrenting as a mofo atm)
Still says faster in the NL.. And distance ~450km.. So it's NOT based on what server you picked, but what location speedtest.net sees your IP from..
