Why are you being stressed? What's happening right now?

I suffer from chronic depression and anxiety and used to be on sickness benefit, which was stripped from me last July by the medical consultants ATOS, hired by the UK government to force people off benefits. It's hard enough dealing with depression as the best of times, add to that the stress and worry of losing my only source of income, and the constant daily fighting here.. and it's just too much, which is why I'm taking an extended break.

Hi to everyone else, by the way, sorry, didn't mean to seem rude by ignoring people.

If you can get a doctor to sign this Click you wont have much to worry about with a tribunal, if they even bother with it if you have that. It will be quite difficult, however, to get a doctor to sign it, they prefer to give written facts instead.

Huh? This is how I've always typed Neutral Methinks ye should change the Christmas hat for a tinfoil one, moosey Razz

@Newty

I wish it were that easy mate, believe me, I really do. I've left everything too long now though, when I got the letter explaining that I lost everything, I just gave up. Gave up caring, gave up fighting, just buried it and sank and that was last May when I received the letter. Without wifey I honestly don't know where I'd be now. The worst part is that I'm trapped, I'm not in England and have no way of going to and fro like I used to when I had an income, so even if -- and it's a big fucking if -- I had the energy and drive to fight what they did to me, I couldn't. The thing is, I don't want to fight, I can't, I don't have the energy and I certainly don't have the desire to fight these fuckers - which takes months anyhow - the "best" result I could "hope" to receive would be to end up stuck on this new ESA bullshit, where they'll send me off for weekly/biweekly group counselling and "employment support" meetings.

No. No fucking way. That's death to me as much as putting a knife to my throat. I can't function outside, haven't been able to for over a decade and that will never change, my doctor knew this and yet ATOS still ignored his reports. I'm not letting some tribunal shit drag me even lower than I am now, only to skullfuck me in the end anyhow. 40% of people that appealed their decisions were able to reclaim, but what's the betting I'd be part of the 60%? Or the 40% that gets back their benefit with huge stipulations attached? Not to mention the simple fact, I'm stuck here in Norway. Haven't even seen my family in over a year.

@Sev

It wouldn't work, like I explained to you before; they won't grant me citizenship unless I'm here to work or unless my wife earns above a set level (which she doesn't).

@sabin1981 I'm on ESA at the moment and had my medical assessment by ATOS(sers) many months ago, I got 0 points lol. I have depression, anxiety and social avoidance. I'm appealing the decision and waiting for a tribunal. I'm not sure how it would work with you living abroad but if you were in the UK you could make a new claim for ESA, just say your problems have got worse and that will entitle you to a new claim. You would have to send in fit notes until your next medical. If you didn't pass it again you can appeal and continue to get ESA up until the tribunal, but you would have to keep sending in fit notes.

I can't imagine how hot it will be down here in July-August though

Sorry about being gone, too much stress and hassle and I just can't take it at the moment. I don't know when I'll be back, if ever, it depends on how my life goes and whether or not I can cope. Thanks to everyone, thanks to the friends that made my life more bearable and no thanks to those that just wanted a punching bag.

<3 to all.

Finally, you came out of the woodwork.

Now post some pictures of your new body NAO!!!!

And welcome back

<3 Sabin!

Easier said than done, but try not to let it weigh you down. I could say more, but having been on benefits for longer than I care to (after I graduated uni, too), I know how depressing it is even thinking about it all, let-alone talking about it. Take care, and know you've got a lot of friends here. Smile

Wouldn't you be eligible for welfare in Norway? How are you connected to the UK now that you live in another country?

People on welfare are pretty much screwed in these scary economic times, I wish you luck.
