I love Nexus, definitely backing this, but I feel like it could definitely fail to get it's funding. 650k is quite a sum and the game is not that well known despite how awesome it is..

first game is one of my all time favourite scifi strategy games, up there with homeworld.
and it has the most spectacular explosions and shield hit effects and all that.
remember that tech demo where you could just watch the AI battle? it was beautiful...

it looks like it will fail without some major hype coming to its rescue :/

the first game is really too obscure and lacks the "big names" that projects like WL2 or DFA throw around to entice backers

Nice! Might have to back this one, looks interesting. Didn't really play a lot of the first game, but I like these kinds of games.
Btw, anybody else think that video was kinda awkward Razz

I think it's mostly because this Kickstarter project has started on the quiet (too much), with basically no major announcements/no "marketing" whatsoever..and since the game itself is already quite niche, well Sad

Not really. It was quite funny and full of self-irony.

"calory counters and other disgusting stuff" made me lol (their company is making shitty iphone apps to stay afloat)

I hadn't even heard the Kickstarter was in the making before it was posted here. It's been 8 hours, and only 12k. I don't see this getting funded, the first day is usually the biggest.

I think it will be made. I recall some other kickstarters that got press about halfway into the period with low to average funding and were eventually funded. Funding will depend on how much this gets promoted on gaming sites.

I think the best thing would be a Kickstarter relaunch with better organization and marketing, this one sadly isn't going anywhere Sad

Yeah, I think this one is doomed. Too bad, really ... I had a lot of fun with the first one.

Dev interview with TotalBiscuit. You can dislike the guy all you want, I personally am hoping he generates quite a bit of traffic and a miracle happens... But I doubt it Sad

I've been trying to get his attention to make a video about the kickstarter through mail and twitter about 2 weeks ago. If he was holding out with the video to get this interview, he really shot them in the foot. Too little, too late. No way he alone can generate the traffic to get the rest of the money in a week. This kickstarter is doomed to fail, no question. They would need a massive industry-wide awareness campaign to succeed.

He should've posted it when he made it, I agree. Keeping that interview for 5 days is a long time, psychologically even more so. People who go to visit the kickstarter page now and see "6 days" with that amount of money, will already be pessimistic and thus less likely to fund. Stupid circle Sad

I had no idea that Nexus had the same developers as Joint Task Force, really love booth games!

Did this video of it a few years back Smile

What is this bullshit with Kickstarter dates ? Just extend the date.

Also, in the TB interview they mentioned they don't have a single line of code yet and the source of the previously released Nexus 2 tech demo is lost Laughing

So you can delete that bookmark, frogster. If they start work it will be on the Unreal fucking engine lmao (mentioned in the interview as well)

It's a damn fine game indeed.. and considering it's eight years old, the visuals have held up rather well too Smile

Well, almost all space games have above average gfx. It helps when there's so much empty space.

Get it ?

Yeah, Nexus was one of the best-looking games back then. The lighting effects are still great. The LoD on asteroids has suffered quite a bit though. Would still look pretty good if you could just increase the view range for those.

This was back during the time where developers knew the clear differences between consoles and PCs, tailoring their games to each platform's strengths. An era long gone Sad

Wow just spent 15 minutes waiting for my ship to distroy an enemy ship in the second mission. Meeeeehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

It was like this : right-click, then wait for 15 minutes while they shoot each other with pea shooters doing minimal damage. Boooring.

You're doing it wrong.

Maybe poor weapon setup? I remember a few battles like that myself, but when I replayed the game in later years it seemed to go a lot smoother.

Lol you sounds like a kid from the derp age.

The ships have something called a shield, and it regenerates all the time, so if your weapon is not strong enough to take down the shield you never get to the hull. If you don't understand those basic concepts i think you should go back to playing SIMS.

1) get more anti shield weapons (doh)
2) get lasers and disable the shields.
3) put weapons energy at 200%
4) use fighters/gunboats to disable shields
5) use plasma
6) Booooooooooring

Shiiieeetttt, it's the first combat mission after the tutorial, retards, I didn't customize anything in my fleet (even if I can). Actually the game is still in tutorial mode, giving me hints etc.

This derp thing has gone too far, you fucking mongs, can't even discuss a game any more. Same in Max Payne 3 thread.
