On a Mac I don't use Desktop at all, as it's always covered by Finder or other applications windows. I keep most used apps and apps on which I often drag&drop documents pinned to the Dock. For launching all other apps, I use Quicksilver - an abreviatura launcher.

As I use PC mostly for games, movies and music, Desktop is often left uncovered by anything, so I use it as a launcher. Most used apps are pinned to the Dock, as Win 7 dock doesn't allow drag&drop of documents, keeping editors kind of applications is useless so I keep them at the top the desktop.

I never use my desktop really, and I don't see the desktop background on my primary monitor most of the time so meh. The only thing I do use my desktop for as you can see in the image is as a quick-access temporary folder, like today I had to fiddle with the Adobe SDK for a client, and I had to fetch some header files for an LPC2148 microcontroller. Easiest to click the desktop to extract the archives to, get the files I need and delete Very Happy

Just for the record, left half is 1920x1080p really, right half is 1680x1050, my monitors don't match Wink

Pffft, I was thinking more along the lines of a city-stroke-world builder. Console tards don't have enough buttons for gameplay of that magnitude! (just look at the complete bastardisation of Civilisation for proof)
