Didn't care much for the 'dark soul'-esk elements, but apart from that I liked it.

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

Same, it had many aspects that felt either too crippled or straight up streamlined in cinederpmatic consolish ways, the writing was on the generic Disneyian side and overall it felt like playing a hodgepodge of tripeA games mixed with Souls baby oil but...the game managed to still entertain me. As derivative and dumbed down as it was, I would always prefer something like that over a modern open-world Ubigame in the style of The Division and the likes. I wish we had better Starwars-y options than 'mediocre', 'average' and 'slightly more acceptable', but alas.

It wasn't bad, but it was rather overrated. If it didn't have Star Wars in its title, many would have completely ignored it.

might be still till at least 2023 but ubisoft can start to dev now and release the game in 2023

Maybe. It is an odd move to announce something now that's barely even into pre-production. But that's the thing. I would expect the terms of the license agreement would prohibit discussing third parties before the time was up. The nature of the announcement makes it seem highly likely that the EA deal is officially scrapped effective immediately. While whatever Ubisoft is making is years away, that doesn't mean other studios can't produce something quicker. If it truly is open season then I'd expect Disney will have plenty of offers.

Changed title since it was just silly.

We know nothing about what Ubisoft will be working on beyond "open world star wars game".

Personally I hope the end of this exclusivity nonsense will lead to a future Kotor 3 (however I SERIOUSLY doubt it since we're talking about Disney who don't want to even acknowledge the existence of anything that isn't part of the new canon. But who knows, if there's still a financial boon Disney may give an internal or external team/developer the job. If they do a new Kotor it shouldn't be called Kotor 3 since most people born in the mid-late 90'ies and forward have never played the original games. Most likely a remake/reboot with modern tech in GTAV/Fallout4/Cyberpunk-style (but hopefully without the issues).

We'll see what happens. Now that Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have shown Disney what the Star Wars fans actually want (ie. the characters and locations of Episode 1-6, Clone Wars and Rebels) as opposed to Kathleen Kennedy who should never be allowed to have a hand in the creative parts of the Star Wars franchise again. We want Jedi's, Sith's, real SW lore content etc.

Well there were those rumours of a KOTOR remake in the works last year. It was supposedly from an "unexpected" studio, which I think everyone at the time just thought meant it was a different EA studio from Bioware. But now I wonder if it actually meant a non-EA studio. Not that I am particularly keen on a remake either way. Or a sequel for that matter. I'd prefer they let its corpse rest in peace rather than rape it. There's no reason you can't make an all new Star Wars RPG (and I seriously doubt any remake is going to bear much resemblance to the original).

Before anyone thinks this is targeted at someone, it isn't, just accumulated thoughts after seeing it in many other threads the past months.

The cycle repeats itself, people longing for old games getting a new iteration and/or a remake of some sort, base their high expectations on what has been played in the past (including the twisted view of how "good" the old game was) expecting the same to be delivered by modern devs who have no desire to please players Laughing

When you thought years of pain and disappointment would've rung a bell somewhere.
