Small is not the problem, it's that it has been streamlined into the ground.
i would say thats the point of this one (which was pretty obvious from the announcment) , quick experimental casualized xcom spinof just to test things out before reveal of full fledged xcom 3 (Solomon wasnt even involve in it beyond playing https://twitter.com/SolomonJake/status/1250062344899760132 )
tbh i am surprised people are surprised , this is not xcom 3 (which is obviously indev), this is just experiment to go against Gears Tactics.
also...
something weird is going on on r/xcom with the snek waifus
It is pretty funny that there is not a single white male in the squad (aside from maybe the comms guy, Whisper, who's non-combat personnel). The most truly offensive thing about it though is that they retconned the Mutons into having fucking fish faces.
it's XCOM with breaching. I don't what's bad about that. If in XCOM 3 they use that for e.g. VIP missions or some other single target missions, that would be more than welcome.

The major problem with it, mechanically speaking, is that it is a series of breaching into maps the size of an average lounge room. You also "breach" when outside on the middle of a fucking open freeway. They really should have diversified the maps a bit more by reusing some of X2's map parcels and dialled back the breach mechanic to where it actually makes sense.
I've beaten the game, so I've seen pretty much all the maps. There's only one really "big" area, which is still tiny compared to X2 maps, but more of that size would have helped add a bit of tactical diversity.
Yeah, can't wait to see that objective "review" of your, lol.
It's XCOM2.5+
Objective reviewing? That's not how it works... reviews are an opinion - and therefore is the complete opposite of objectivity.
You cannot review something objectively - it's a complete contradiction in terms.
100% agree, both reviewer and the person reading can have wildly different opinions. From a review perspective you are definitely going to frame it based off your enjoyment.
Off the top of my head Sin gave Diablo 3, Fallout 76 and Mass Effect Andromeda good reviews, case closed.
I never gave a "review" for any of these games. I don't think so anyway.
I never even played FO76 until now... and I find it barely enjoyable.
Andromeda was a fun game, not a mass effect game, that was enjoyable until you got to the end and realized how much you got fucked over with missing storylines and cancellation of any future support/DLC's.
D3 we played all the demo and we got fucked over by that short first 10 levels, where stats don't matter...
