I know what you mean. I always knew. Mobster with a Fag

But everything today is filled with "mediocrenecreses". 80% of all services, products, politicians, books, people's attitudes, jobs (etc.) is filled with "mediocorenesses".

So make sure you have a good stock of vomit bags to face this.

I plugged in the cyberyarr module without knowing what to expect and finished the game (in about eight hours), somehow I found it...*buzzing noise* both intriguing and disappointing in equal measure. It's a whacky dialogue-based adventure with C&C where each mission is set inside a different simulation of an MMO-like environment with its own characters, problems to solve, and traits that unlock more dialogues. You don't really have much to do in the levels and you can't actually fail, though your decisions are registered by the game and affect the final outcome.

Problem is, although the writing is decent enough to carry the game despite its disconnected (huehue) nature and all the meta-references, after just a few contracts I started to lose interest in the main story and its disposable characters. I was curious to see how the mystery would unravel, but ultimately to me it felt more like watching a trombone-shaped simulated projection of a dinglebop sleeve rubbed against the grumbo with a bunch of spleem.

Ixi, if you have to choose between this one and Encased, which one did you like more/will recommend?

I'm looking for a new CPRG to play, I was excited for Gamedec but from what I saw and read it may not be what was initially promised. Encased on the other hand flew under my radar, but people seem to be praising it a lot. (I plan on playing the new Pathfinder in like 6 months or a year, so that's not an option right now)

I can't say much since I haven't properly played Encased yet (just a few hours between the iso and Steam) but aside from the writing which is subjective, the two games are definitely different in terms of approach. Gamedec is more like an isometric adventure (no combat, confined levels, all dialogue-based, ~8-10 hours long) whereas Encased is Fallout-esque with the larger scope, focus on exploration, combat and so on.

I'm waiting because according to several reports Encased's first couple of acts are well-crafted and polished (the ones available during Early Access), while the remaining half of the game is pretty rough/unfinished and needs some patching. Then again that's pretty common sadly. Razz

During their game release stream for Gamedec, the devs did mention having 2 DLCs coming for the game which sounded like 2 more simulations but I wonder if they will follow through on those or not as it seems like the game will be forgotten about by most in a few weeks.

Going by the trailers I thought the game was going to be more like a Disco Elysium type RPG but hearing that it is more like an adventure game is a little disappointing but I will still have to give it a try as the story does sound interesting.

I played Encased heavily during their EA period and their combat was pretty unforgiving to the point that there was a lot of complaints in the Steam forums. Eventually, I gave up because it was pretty unfair compared to other games. Devs promised that it would be fixed by release but I haven't tried since it was released. Gamedec from what I have read isn't as combat heavy and is more adventure like ixigia mentioned. So, basically two different styles in a similar universe.
