Games are another matter, you have to run all that graphics, ai, sound, music, user input at once, running physics like this would be very difficult.

We won't see that level of physics in games anytime soon. To get that level of physics in real-time probably requires some serious computing power that just isn't practical for home usage. Probably 5-10 years away from usage in games and by that time we won't be so impressed since we've seen an incremental evolution of existing physics engines. Just look at Control for instance. The physics in it is pretty good for what it is.
