Camera way too zoomed in, lots of pop ins directly in front of your face, and so far tons of fetch quests, but at least fast travel, when it's available is there.
Not really tons, but there are some that unlocks between chapters. Fortunately they're very quick
Thankfully UuuClient resolves the issue. The game is okay so far.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
Looks like many developers are really obtuse in the department of QoL for PC specs. The FOV slider should be in ANY (third / first person) game nowadays.
Gotta say this ended up being one of my favourite tales titles to date
completed it already?
maybe you can help me out, I think I'm playing it wrong or something
I'm about 12~ hours in I think, just beat the second big boss but had to drop to easy to beat him just like the first. and even on easy ("story" difficulty) they take forever to kill
Tried both like 3 or 4 times on normal (not even moderate wtf) but getting my ass kicked by all the crazy skills they do once the second phases start.
I find it really hard to dodge a lot of the attacks and my AI characters keep getting killed in the second phases (first phases are OK) so I run out of CP and healing/ressurection items
I thought I might be underleveled with how long some of the tougher enemies and bosses take to kill, but so far I haven't seen grinding being useful, with EXP being terribly low
Also always really short on money and that's also seemingly hard to come by in terms of farming
any advice for a tales noob? I played tales of graces and xillia and don't remember having so much trouble in those
normal enemies are fine btw, I just do my combos on those, enjoying it all, but the bosses....
like on the second one when the second phase starts and he summons those clones.. I can barely take down 1 before his ultimate drops. that can't be right, can it? surely they are there to give you a chance to stop his ultimate by killing all 3?

This is somewhat different than other tales games though. Somewhat like genshin with it's accessories and stats. You don't exactly screw yourself, but you can choose terrible stats. I don't remember when, but modify each characters accessories (the ones you craft) by transfering skills like defense and elemental defense when you can. Suddenly your companions become a lot more robust. Also you get stats for maxing out a skill circle.
I gotta be honest with you, i felt like i played it wrongly through the entire game, but there wasn't exactly many i could ask since most people i know haven't even started it so i winged my way through it. I unlocked raging roar or whatever it was called. You slam enemies upwards for massive damage compared to other skills which are more combo builders and barely tickle the enemies. So yes, find the skills you're comfortable with and equip your party members with good gear and accessories and you should be fine.
During endgame i had no issues whatsoever anymore. I had your struggles too tbh, but i switched to story before the final dungeon or something as i couldn't stand how spongy enemies were. Got boring.
And bosses becomes more and more easy the longer you progress and you will get a grasp of things to the point things go quite alright if you give it time.
I'll try to farm some minerals for better accessories for now. I did craft a few already but with how much they cost and upgrading them costs and my severe lack of money, I couldn't really get what I wanted or probably needed (like light defense for everyone for second boss)
didn't know about the stat boost for completing skill circles so I'll try to focus on that too
I just wish grinding was more effective and I can't shake the feeling now the only reason it's this way is because they want to sell more money and levels not because they wanted a challenging balance.
100k just 2$! 10 level ups for 3$!
fuck that, man...

Hmm thats weird. I did feel that i wasn't rich, but i could always upgrade the lastest. I didn't buy much armor though only once i was nearing the end as i was loaded by that point.
Those DLC´s have been a part of the Series since PS3 so its not at all a new thing.
well, that doesn't mean they didn't decide to double down on them now and try something to sell more. they're in your face with DLC every time you rest too
it still sucks either way

I think maybe it's because I had to buy healing items several times and they're very expensive in early game
basically usually half my money went to crafting one or two new weapons when available, and the rest into replenishing the healing items I ran out of once again
only twice did I have enough to craft an accessory or two on the side and the sub stats I rolled weren't very useful
it's very possible I'm over the hump at this point, as I'm currently sitting at 10k with the latest weapons (though I think my healing items still need replenishing after the boss)
will probably have to invest most of that into accessories now though

That might be. I always went to a camp and refilled the CP once i unlocked a travel point. I always try saving the gels as you never know when you need them.

Grind the mobs from the first area. You can wipe them in seconds and get slightly less xp than mobs at the current area you're in, and those fights can get close to a minute.
Also make sure to equip weapons that are opposite whatever elemental alignment the boss has.
Not really a fan of the combat. I just dropped it down to easy at the 5th lord's area (where I'm currently at) because it got too tedious. Doesn't seem to be a lot of moves or enemy variety so I'm just doing the same tired old combos.
And bosses are sponges. And are much more annoying when they're regular sized because you can't see shit with all the effects piling on and your party crowding them.
Anyway, while I like that they improved the skits which is one of the things that makes a Tales game, I'm still pretty disappointed that they didn't bother improving other things. Though I honestly just skip through most skits because if you've played Tales games, they're pretty samey. I thought the characters would provide a twist but it's still the same tired archetypes, except maybe for the last party member. The other 5 fall flat for me.
Level design is still the same boring and uninspired corridors, and they didn't even bother coming up with puzzles, unless finding keys that has you backtracking a bit counts.
Wish they'd finally added models for armor. Keep the DLC outfits, people will still pay for those, but at least give us more outfit options. The white shirt adventure outfit is probably the only one that clicks with me.
And the side quests should have had a bit of story added to them to help build the world. So you know, instead of just talking to everyone in town, do a quest in a town that has you maybe solve a mystery or intervene in a feud or whatever and from there get to know more about the town.
Pace is also a problem. Just got out of jail and now you're taking down a Lord. At first I was fine with that because I thought the Lords were a red herring that you'd eat through real quick before the true villain of the game popped up and the narrative would change, but alas no. It seems that this is pretty much the story. Seems like a pretty short game.
Also there's not much to do in towns. 3rd town is really pretty but apart from the arena, it's pretty much just a place to pick up quests.
Enemy variety is also lame. Just same old reskins.
