Well, i watched it and i dont regret that i did. Sure, they wasted a lot of time and it should have been a movie or 13 episodes, but it was worth it.
Now for the game. I do wonder if there is a game burried inside somewhere. Its nothing but running around and long cutscenes with the occasional dungeon.

Pretty common for mid 00 JRPGs you will watch a lot of long cutscenes it's not as bad as Xenosaga but yes there is a lot of them, gameplay sequences get a lot more involved later on so just keep going you only scratched the surface so far.

Thats what i figure. One thing i dont understand though is how im meant to play those areas. Does the gamr intend for me to solo or will i always have opportunites to bring with other players?
And holy shit the protagonist is really unlikable. I do enjoy protagonists who dont take shit, unlike the usual wimpy protagonists in other japanese media, but this guy is just full of hate.

If your friends are online you can always invite them in to your party, solo is possible in quests which don't require some party members to be present but yeah playing with your online friends is the intended way to play.
Haseo is a bit of jerk early on cause of his past but there is some character development later and he get's a bit more likeable.

Shit now that you say this, no wonder I dont have a recollection of any of these characters, I played the original 3 .hack games (Infection etc.) and didnt even notice that this 2nd trilogy ever came out...
