The new renderer looks crisp, there is a new weapon, the flamethrower, some new enemies and other new stuff. Some of the original level designers created a new episode, new lines by the original voice etc.
Developed by Nerve Software, so I expect some quality even though Gaybox publishes it.
I for one am glad that Randy is pouring a lot of efforts into the Duke Nukem franchise, and I would encourage everyone to give money to this company since despite some minor drama (now a thing of the past), they do care about it.
After all, this is just the first baby step to generate interest and attention, in order to achieve what will be the the future, spectacular grand vision of a full-fledged Duke Nukem designed entirely by Gearbox and their team of talented artists and writers.

Let the Duke die in peace. It was nice as long as it has lasted.
Next up: Duke Nukem Reimagined with female main protagonist!
That's indeed the plan. I think we're in good hands!

Wtf. I can only hope he says this after entering a secret area and finding a dead Sheldon or something. Like in the original when you could find Indiana Jones and Luke Skywalker.
Sounds weird how the voice acting is high quality but the rest of the audio was left untouched. Wonder how long it'll take for someone to simply take all the new content and make it into a eDuke32 mod. IGN also revealed there's a developer commentary mode which could be interesting for old school fans of the game.
You can switch between the original graphics and the new ones on the fly. Neat!
edit I read some people saying the re-recorded lines sound very bad / totally different from the originals. I don't see it myself. Even if some of them are spoken differently they don't feel (any more) out of place.
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

They sound nearly identical to me. The only slight difference I heard is the "damn I'm good" line which has more of a cocky inflection. The ultra fanboys just want to bitch about every little nitpick, the voice is never going to sound 100% the same as it did 20 years ago due to better technology and an older Jon St. John.
Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour – New screenshots showcase all new levels
Quote:
Gearbox has released a new set of screenshots for Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour. These screenshots showcase the eight new levels that were created by the original level designers of Duke Nukem 3D. These new maps are: High Times, Red Ruckus, Bloody Hell, Golden Carnage, Mirage Barrage, Tour de Nukem, Hollywood Inferno and Prima Arena. Enjoy!
It's a shame that they didn't include the expansions in this version, it could have been some sort of complete package at least. Knowing Gearbox, it wouldn't surprise me if they're actually planning to sell those as DLCs.
I don't know if you can load old maps but there's a "third party workshop map" option.
-edit, I just saw on duke4.net that the original four episodes can be ported to eduke32 but the lighting effects don't work. The fifth episode will require "a non-trivial amount of work".
Found a funny joke that might trigger some people to cry racism:
Spoiler:
Context: In the U.S. some cities designate themselves "sanctuary cities" and they won't deport illegal immigrants. San Francisco is one of them.
In the new Duke episode a level takes place in San Francisco, and Duke comments "looks like San Francisco is a sanctuary for illegal aliens."
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"
This is pretty good for someone wanting to play through the original episodes and a new hard one with no messing around with eduke32 etc.
But if you are only going to play the new episode, it isn't worth it for 20 euros,it is kinda short. It isn't even a definitive edition since it is missing some episodes.
The rewind function is nice and so is the graphics 1-button toggle
Not sure how the multiplayer/coop works.
EDIT: What is the Shift gearbox gayness in the main menu that opens a browser signin page?
Gearbox Shift for rewards, used heavily in Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 2.5 Pre-Sequel to give players keys for the loot chest and on occasion also exclusive heads or skins.
(Which can be unlocked via a editor as well because screw that feature. )
EDIT: 2K also uses a similar thing with My2K and Square-Enix has something as well.

install eduke, drop DUKE3D.GRP and DUKE.RTS into the eduke folder..
Hmmm, maybe this isn't the game to boycott to make a statement, people
People not buying beccause it's too expensive right now for what it is, I understand. I pirated it, too. But people are trying to take revenge on Gaybox by burying this game and complaining about petty problems.
I was hoping that if this went well, maybe we would one day see a Blood remake. That one is also using the Build engine, imagine how cool that would be.
Anyhow, the renderer in this looks very different from the Polymer renderer in eDuke32, it is subjective which one is the better one, the Anniversary edition has very pronounced/contrasting lighting. But I think the movement+aiming may be better in eDuke32, hmmm.

Also I think multiplayer is broken in eduke32.
So to make a statement we shouldn't just outright boycott their games but pick and chose which ones we want to buy? That's not how it works.
If the Boredomlands are doing well and a Duke Nukem remaster is not ... guess what the future holds.
Even if Gearbox did release a new Duke game I wouldn't buy it and I actually enjoyed DNF somewhat. I'm boycotting them for Colonial Marines and for the cunt Pitchford is. Wether they release a game I'm interested in is besides the point, I won't buy anything from them because the company is a shit stain who don't deserve any trust from consumers anymore.
Besides, I downloaded that remaster to test it, it has horrible mouse controls and actually drops below 60fps in the second level.
Seems to be using DirectX 11 going by the Steam reviews, also seems to have poorer mouse support to where you can't use any extra buttons which the old Duke game and it's eDuke port can plus it forces mouse acceleration.
Engine wise I'm not too sure how eDuke and it's Polymer OGL renderer is doing though being mod friendly and having the ability to switch the sound files and even graphics is a plus I suppose.
(The "HRP" project at least last I saw was a bit mixed due to it's age and several older assets when the eDuke engine was less developed but it's probably still active.)
Obviously licensing problems are also a issue where this version does not contain the other extra episodes though I think it contains the main official one at least.
(I haven't been keeping up with this at all, looks like the Megaton edition was pulled completely although per Steam functionality existing owners can still download and play their copy of it.)
