I just want a game with similar gameplay mechanics/elements as homeworld. To me that means an RTS without basebuilding (the mothership/base is mobile and moves with you), with a focus on tactics and correct army composition, and very slight rpg elements.
Somehow I'm more hyped for this than for Dragon's Dogma... really hope it's good. Pity I'm currently so swarmed in teaching that I'll probably not be able to touch it until end of January :\
I never really played the other Homeworld games, as i don't like space strategy games.
A few weeks ago i stumbled upon this here, and it really looks promising. I guess many fans of the old games are disappointed in it though.
Let's see how it turns out.

am i the only one thinking its rather fishy that there is almost next to none gameplay footage (except VERY few scenes in the trailer) ? And it comes out in 12 days for 45 bucks. I wanna see some ingame shit, and not just a few seconds of it.

Yep, the same thought occurred to me as well.
That is why i am certain this will be a shitty game

Hehe, it is quite suspicious indeed. Not even a preview, everything is "hush-hush'd" and Gearbox'd. It even gets 'fishier' when you remember the fact that this game was originally intended as a free-to-play multiplayer title (Hardware: Shipbreakers), usually a reason for concern. The isodemo will tell us the truth, it's the only way really.

It's funny that they give us a story video to a game that we have little idea on how it plays just 10 days before launch.
Well, after skipping through it i must say, it didn't make me interested in the game at all. Looks rather bland overall.
Will still try the isodemo to judge it by myself.

I wrote that the gameplay looked boring. Then some nerds come out and tell me i have no taste and no long attention span, because i own so many games on Steam.
yeah i know thats why talked about part 2 of the video which looks much more interesting unlike bob who watched only part 1 and went to troll steam-forums
I watched a bit of the second video now, and the game still didn't give a "damn, nice!" emotion. In fact i felt nothing, and i normally get excited for RTS games.
Though i never liked the other Homeworld games, so maybe that is a reason.

I like it too. It's basically Homeworld 2 on ground. Also the team is back and that's totally visible. It might not have 3d but for me it didn't have that much of an impact in previous games. It was darn difficult to control everything in all axis', so you ended up not using much of that verticality.
I love the effect terrain and sand dunes have on combat. I have high hopes.
I played the five first mission so far and I like it, reminds a lot to Ground Control, with a base. Graphics are definitely the weak point (textures are very low res), but gameplay-wise is pretty good (the zoom-out/zoom-in unit selection mechanic is very handy), music is amazing and the narrative is spot on. I shall post some screenies when the embargo ends.

The devs said 10-12 hours if you're not on easy, for the campaign. How does it look so far?
Just the fact that the game runs on the Unity engine makes me skeptical.
Why?
Often unstable or overall crappy performance with that engine.

12 hours for the campaign only and i guess there only is one campaign? Wow. If that is true, i know where the devs didn't put much effort into in the last years: the textures and content.
But the second screenshot of yours is a good example of the bad looking graphics.
The carrier textures look of pretty low quality. Also Anistropic Filtering doesn't seem to work on that object.
I really don't get warm with this game. Two more days, then i judge it for myself.
