Indeed, played an early version of Grim Dawn and absolutely loved it... so I do what I do with all my Ea titles: wait till a full release... but man a lot of them have slow progress.
(No, not saying they should release unfinished games!)

I loved Titan Quest, played it many many times with my wife, same for Torchlight 2, simply fantastic. A darker themed Torchlight 2 would be great! Just like Diablo ... ah.
No arpg beats the feel and feedback of the TL2 combat IMHO IMHO.
The hit "feel" won't impress you that much, the one complaint about TQ was that there was no weight to the combat and you never felt like it really connects when you hit someone.. and that part has aged poorly. Other than that, the game is as fantastic today as it was 9 years ago.
IMO IMO IMO.
Also, another aRPG I *adore* but goes unsung is Loki. That was deliciously fun.
Loki was fun but it felt unfinished at times and unlike Titan Quest it looks really dated now, various technical issues too I believe but it should be playable but Titan Quest has a dedicated modding community releasing both complete overhauls and bugfixes plus numerous handy utilities.
(And there's that little thing about if you want to see the true ending it requires you to finish the game at each difficulty level so it needs three playthroughs. )

Secret ending?! Titan Quest insta-reinstalled.

well i really liked the steampunkish theme that setup most of TL2 i actually reinstalled cause of this thread went back in with synergies + must have side tools mod and far east 1/2 + loa gotta say it's still just as fun to play for a couple hours then just say i'm done for the day where alot off the fresher arpg's you A can't do it or B well the combat just doesn't satisfy
but i do understand what ya mean with that, the style isn't for everyone but on the other hand it has aged really well (retex mod is a must have tho) and with reshade it still looks damn good ^^
I started the adventures of van helsing on the weekend.
I really wish the Torchlight devs would make a "more adult themed" game just like van helsing and less comical/kiddie-like settings/theme.
The first thing I noticed when playing Van Helsing however was the lack of any hit-feedback whatsoever.
I believe Torchlight got the hit feedback and critical feedback right. Aswell as the much praised loot-system.
That is the reason why I'm looking at Grim Dawn with one eye (the other eye hates EA games).
Gimme Torchlight in Dark, Dark, Dark setting a la Dark Souls or Diablo 1+2 and we're good.
Progress on Grim Dawn is slow but steady, first part of the third act came out a while ago and it's pretty good now if you liked Titan Quest though they have traded the mythological fantasy setting for something a bit more post-apocalyptic.
Also, they came out with a DLC for a couple of bucks that adds an arena with waves of enemies. You get a small amount of xp, a large amount of loot and points to put into towers that can be offensive or put out an aura to benefit you. You can also save those points up and buy devotion points, which is what I am doing to 3 diff chars
Is it me or this game just has nothing appealing about it.. It looks so fucking boring. Shame as the torchlight games were really great, we kinda got saturated with arpgs so I get why they switched gears.. Still i just dont like this thing.
Edit: even ocarina of time has better artstyle and graphics than this game.
