IGN at its finest.
Great, to make a review of a game based on a first few levels as he clearly didn't get to the "avoiding" enemies. And they would obliterate him because he can't aim for shit
What a bunch of derps.

He does mention that there are twenty levels plus the darkstaff so he probably played through the game, though then again most of this is simple to understand from the included manual. Razz

Well IGN makes a good point, Rott is so terribly outdated and can't compete with today's modern shooters.
I mean, there is no health regen, no linear maps with arrow indicators and a warning if you go the wrong way, no scripted events, no QTE's and no awesome button to instantly kill an enemy. I cannot imagine people are still interested in such an old style game.

Honestly if you think this type of gameplay is acceptable on the UE3 engine you might be the derp. It's just a horrible game with the movespeed jacked up, and no regard given to the fact that this engine lacks any type of responsiveness and is frankly awful.

Rott is not "old school" to me, it's just shit cash in.

Having looked at some of the older images again I wonder what happened to the glossy floor tech that was showcased. Very Happy

This first level of episode three for example.

Or the fifth (boss) level of episode one.

I've used IGN.com for over a decade.....and I've always defended them on these boards when I see people bitch about them.

But giving this game a 4.3 out of 10 is ridiculous. Fuck IGN.

If it would have got "Call Of Duty" in the title, and the coins would have been replaced with dog chewing bones... It would have scored "10/10 amazing".

Stuck on E1L4...."don't drop the soap" checkpoint.

I find the key, go up the stairs, pull the switch, and now I can access the room at the top of the tower, in the middle of the room. That room has a switch in it. I hit it, and it seems that all it does is give me access to a hidden room......not sure how to progress..

EDIT:

Nevermind. Was fun watching this dude run around for 4 minutes trying to figure out WTF to do too...

I'm almost ready to call this game a piece of shit. I'm playing on hard and it's just stupid how glitchy the game is.

I hope this shit gets ironed out eventually.

started playing this. I was immediately impressed by the amount of graphic settings available.

Gameplay is enjoyable old school, even though production values seem a bit low. guns feel a bit like peashooters and animations are a bit bad. and the ai as well Very Happy but overall a nice little nostalgic gem that i'll go through once and then forget.

no performance issues, but then again, its u 3 Laughing

god mode spell is the one that can slow down on my rig, if i throw it while an enemy is in my face it lags. that's the only thing i've noticed so far up to early episode 2 stuff.

Ill probably be done with the game before the patch anyways.

I think I'll wait for the official patch to finish the game, since I like to play with many of the graphical goodies enabled and I can't at the moment..and for some odd reason I'm not able to save the settings. Boo! Very Happy

But I like the game, even when the sneaky AI tries to sampanther you from behind thanks to the illegal spawning system a-la David Copperfield Laughing

I'm having a blast. got up to episode 3 level 4 on hardest diff in a single day. classic mode music + all graphics maxed and the game is a nostalgic joy.

I did have a few frustrating moments. if you die before triggering the first checkpoint in a level, you have to restart level otherwise you lose all your weapons. But even worse is if you accidentally click restart level after triggering a checkpoint... then you are fucked. You then start with a pistol only. And whats worse is that you sometimes die while you are clicking lmb like mad and then you insta get sent to reload checkpoint or level screen and one misclick screws you over royally. I had to go through a whole level in episode 2 without a machinegun. It was insanely frustrating pistoling everything since the rocket launchers were rare in that map and it was tight corridors filled with those heavies.

The second episode boss fight also had some stuttering. Other then that, its been a joy playing an old school fps for a change. I really felt like I was back in the early 3dfx days. So Much Win
