What's lame about gunblades?

Sword-guns are real weapons.

http://www.ruble-enterprises.com/PFsword.htm

They were around during the 16th century or so.

I mean come on, this was bound to happen. And we all know what they were thinking.

Hey, this new gun thing is pretty awesome. We could make swords even more awesome by adding guns to them!

Heck, the even have Gun Katars.

http://www.collectorebooks.com/gregg01/Lot-101.htm

Next FF should have this.

Kinda defeats the purpose but. A JRPG is mainly grind type combat with the odd tough fight, held together by a story which keeps you engaged.

If you skip the story you may as well not bother.

This game is hard as nails on some bosses though, so expect a lot of scene skipping.

Also it doesn't explain much about the lore either, so not much for story this game has.

Yeah I ran into a green lizard while exploring a location for random drops and other items of interest and died nearly instantly, seems it was a rare sort of boss monster meant for later levels.

Also encountered a black dragon looking creature later on near a quest location and had a hard time getting past without engaging it in a fight as it totally devastated my little group, need to improve them a bit further even after INI editing (Access to their equipment, mentioned previously.) as the actual effectiveness of them isn't that good yet.

You guys wait till you fight The Fallen, Demigod or the Lost Remnant. The last bugger is especially nasty because you have to kill him in 5 turns - on the fifth turn he uses Armageddon (doesn't do any damage - just ends the game Smile ). The White Conqueror and the Enlightened Seven are also quite fun. There is also another powerful boss that you can only fight if you complete all the quests in the game Sad

What's everyone playing this on? I'm thinking about getting it, I have a 7900GTX. I tried the benchmark and it sucked, only 15 fps in the tougher spots..but I'm wondering how far you can crank it down?

i never skip the scenes, but sometimes when u load the game, and u already watched the scene, u can skip it if u want, or if u die...i mean why to watch one scene every time u die or load the game

Haven't played too much yet, but I dislike the mission style gameplay. Then I disliked quite a few things about Final Fantasy 12, but I found once I became engaged in the plot and characters, I didn't really give a shit.. I hope the case is the same here. I'll play some more in the week Smile

it seems an alright game so far. nothing in the story and gameplay has hooked me yet.

i love playing final fantasy 12. but did not like final fantasy x or x2. mainly because ffx/ffx2 feels old and pretty restrictive (fixed camera positions/mixed of 2d background and 3d foreground).

with ff12, the camera is free and we no longer have 2d background but full 3d. last remnant reminds of ff12 so that's a plus. but it's no where as free as fallout 3, gothic, or oblivion. it's a j-rpg.

it's the type of game that i'll finish one of these days when there is nothing more interesting to do.

Pirate it and check. JBechman posted a nice tweak to get rid of some shadows and profit in fps.
I think you're pretty good, if you have nice cpu+mem components.

My sister's got an Athlon XP 2800 with a Radeon 3850 AGP card. I don't know how many fps she's getting - the game's playable, just not so smooth! Loading times are the biggest problem.

What DLC?

Anyway currently on the most annoying quest ever (So far at least), have to kill wave after wave of "landworms" (Doesn't look like worms though.) for some armored "traditional woman" or what her description was while looking for a semi-invisible tree (Enchanted master or something like that.), nearly impossible to find said tree before being engaged in combat against these worm-creatures.
(There's a ton of them and they respawn quickly so killing them all won't work unfortunately.)

EDIT: Aha, seems a bit minor though.

EDIT: What the? I have those already.

Might be worth mentioning and I don't think it's been reported that many times but there's a semi-fake crack available that's only 8 MB instead of 32.

The problem with using this is that the guy who created it intended it as a virus as it's actually a packed container with that "codec.exe" trojan and the original exe.

Fairly easy to unpack with say "Universal Extractor 1.6" but worth a notice incase anyone use such a file.
(Unsure what the virus/trojan actually does though, deleted it before scanning it on sites like Virustotal.)

EDIT: Seems it's not a virus/trojan and instead "adware" meaning toolbars and popups and such, still crap but easier to handle and remove.

You only need to aggro as many as possible and then the "tree guy" will appear.

For me it would have to be spending 10 minutes running through the dessert to click on a pole, running 10 minutes for the next pole etc.

One of the most pointlessly dragged out moments I've ever come across.

I uninstalled not long after this Smile

Hehe, just did those quests and had a minor "issue" where I tried to accomplish all quests remaining in the city taverns, turns out for every quest I did another quest giver appeared so in the end I completed over ten quests, most of the time revisiting the same location to proceed further, was pretty fed up in the end but I got trough it.
(Story is progressing pretty fast as well and it's getting very challenging now due to the high amount of deadlier enemies than the basic "fodder" types.)

I am figured why modern "west" rpg's has arrow pointers and signs "Run here" over map.

Problem is but even if they had arrows you still have points set so far about you have 10 minutes of running through a bland featureless area to get from C - 4 - E etc.

It would take far more than arrows to save that quest Smile

Unsure if you can alter run speed somehow but that would improve things a bit I imagine, though running head first into a enemy giving them the initial turn isn't a good thing either.
(Especially if it's one of those wyrms on the above mentioned desert level.)

Or just have the markers closer with the option to explore if you like.

Or have the markers clicked in order. It's not that hard to work out, the clues not exactly cryptic, going in a mixed up order doesn't make it challenging just annoying.

Few spoilers here in these images just so you know but damn there's truly a LOT of stuff to do in this game.

For example I found this new place and as the star-rating indicate the tasks are pretty difficult. (Seems I'm on the second half of the game, thankfully the constant battles, like hitting six enemy locations and seven bosses in a row, makes the chain rating easy to improve.)

(Most underwhelming NPC in the game so far considering his rank and position, huge fat-ass basically.)

(Got this "ability" in a sidequest, didn't expect this to be possible but it was once I tried it, fun but not really worth it.)

(This here NPC says "..." and gives you two to three "visistones" with random info in them, repeat endlessly for no apparent reason but it gives good background lore to the game, also have a ton of other crap in there with no apparent use like pieces from bosses and newspapers plus guild insignias.)

Just checked google for the location to the DLC "Ancient Ruins" and will hit that as soon as I've prepared a bit more, (Must do something about the whining henchmen as well, fetch your own basic equipment and stop begging for my stuff.) only checked parts of those locations so far but it seems there's some pretty unique stuff down there.

Bit repetetive with all those battles though "Rush" does live up to his name however.
(Rush that dungeon exit! <- Basically, unless I need to improve my characters a bit or run straight into a enemy patrol or even worse, semi-unique bosses.)

EDIT: Seems I accidentally completed the game.
(Thought I was only starting out on the later parts of the storyline but I was pretty close to the ending scene it seems.)

(Bit of a LOL moment with item names.)

(The end, for now at least.)

Yeah, the lore in the game should have been better explained.

Also that Wagram guy is speculated as being the first God Emperor in the lore on some forum I go to. Of course the game never delves on this so it's all conjecture.

The plot in this game really took a beating.

The.Last.Remnant.PROPER-PROPHET

proper: the rls by the other group is a homemade iso .

does it really matters ?
i mean other than the scene rules , does it differ from RLD rls ?

i didnt yet play RLD rls so i dont know if there are any problems with that rls ...
