Arriving on Sept. 12 the Daybreak Pack is a brand-new game mode for State of Decay 2 – a re-playable co-op “zombie siege” experience:
  • Team up with friends. Players and up to three teammates play as highly skilled Red Talon soldiers armed with high-end weaponry; together, they will defend a fortified position against waves of oncoming zombies, while a vulnerable technician repairs a critical satellite relay.
  • New enemies and weapons. Among the waves of regular and special zombies players will need to ward off will be a new enemy – the Blood Plague Juggernaut! This is a tougher version of the already powerful juggernaut who will expose players to blood plague. To combat this new scourge, players have access to a new set of CLEO weapons including eight new ranged weapons, six new melee weapons and six new deployable explosives.
  • New rewards and achievements. The more waves you survive, the more rewards you earn. Rewards and unlocked items can be used to fight more efficiently in future Daybreak sessions and players will also be able to access those same unlocked items for their main community of survivors, giving access to the new CLEO weapons, additional accessories and upgrades for their base – including the opportunity to bring in a Red Talon soldier. Lastly Daybreak Pack comes with over two dozen new achievements for State of Decay 2 worth 250 Gamerscore!

Daybreak Pack will be available for fans who own the Standard Edition for $9.99 (USD*), and is included with the Ultimate Edition at no additional cost. It will also be available at launch for Xbox Game Pass members with a 10% discount. As an Xbox Play Anywhere game, one digital purchase gets you both the Xbox One and the Windows 10 version of the game. In addition to the release of Daybreak Pack, there will be a content update to continue improving player experience

Needs way more than that to make it interesting again

- New random events
- New buildings to explore
- New mission types
- New enemies
- Attacks on your bases that aren't repelled within a few seconds

etc

It's a shame too because I love the weapon mechanics, vehicles and exploring. But it's just so pointless once you have all the things.

Haha, was just coming here to ask these questions.

I got it via Gamepass, all included, and I quite enjoy the gameplay. But I was wondering if ^this had some sort of endgame, either story-wise or just gameplay-wise? Because as much as I enjoy the main loop, if that's all there is to aspire to, then I'll stop right now "on a high note", rather than being disappointed later.

So, yay or nay?

No challenges? there are freaking zombie hordes and big fat zombies pretty much every few meters after a while, your mates are complaining all the time.
And I'm not even playing on higher difficulty. By the way, why there is no target circle when throwing molotov? Maybe I'm too old for this Very Happy

I put it away pretty quickly, it becomes very repetitive very quickly. Also, you get constantly whined on about by other communities to help them, instead of your own and there is just no time to do both all the time, so you keep making enemies, simply because you couldn't help...

What logic is that?

And the gameplay loop is pretty short and you'll just do the same thing over and over, but apparently you can't have more than 12 people in your community and only x outposts... so it will get stale as hell and soon.

I was hoping for "being able to free the entire zone", remove all zombies, unlock every building I want, with a community as big as I possibly could.

But none of those is possible, so what's the point Smile

Horrible implementation on the Steam release. It doesn't have any Steam features. Playing the multiplayer with friends requires jumping through all the xbox gaming hoops.

Still a console game, even if on Steam.

Wonky controls / movement, huge UI elements, nauseating FOV = worth-a-ignore.

Enjoying the game so far ... but

My main "complains" :

- launch titles sound way to loud ! WTF QA team ???
- Individual missions which don't let you switch character even once teamed up, I lost my first dude because of this, mind you the mission is to visit a "potentially hostile community" with one of the weakest member of mine : the cook, NONSENSE. The AI team-mate was pretty useless when the fight began. Mad
- the game is a bit too fast paced for my taste, too many radio calls from every where, like you go out to collect food and medicine which you lack seriously and you got 2-3 help request from other communities but once you get back to home : too late and say hello to an hostile community because you didn't offer any help. Rolling Eyes

Other than that, the game is quite good, and it's (again) like playing a The Walking Dead Tycoon game ^^
Character's specialization invite you to switch to the best for each tasks and it's quite rewarding.

That's exactly what happened to me, the only difference it was gardener in my case, I raged quit and restarted from scratch Laughing

The first time you play the game may feel a bit unforgiving when you don't know wtf is going on, especially with the perma death.

Yeah totally agree on this, as I'm not too fond on any timers in games. However after some time spent with the game I realised it's part of it's design and it even has a bit of charm when you accept that this is all about choices to make as you won't be able to help everyone, you can try but you'll and up dead soon enough just like me on my 2nd attempt Razz

Now playing the 3rd time and I must say that this game grows on you, of course it's far from perfect but it has something in it that keeps me coming back for more.
7/10

I hope that someday State of Decay 3 will improve on that formula, that would be awesome.

If you have a mission that has a chance to involve a hostile survivor group, just bring guns. They go down with a single headshot.

The mission timers are understandable, but still annoying. Pretty much the reason why I keep rage-deleting my saves when I have 5 pending help requests and people get bummed out when I can't help a single one. Reminds me of the idiotic "time progresses even when not playing" nonsense of the first game.

There are difficulty settings. Let the normal one have fewer requests with more generous time limits, and ramp it up for the harder ones.

I’d pay that much for it. I grabbed the ISODemo and have put in a few hours messing around and enjoyed it. If you can gift it to a US person I’ll pay you for your troubles
