Well so is Anno now because they all but removed the trade aspect, relegated combat to a couple minigame maps that are so tedious nobody bothers with them, got rid of AI competition and everything else that could get in the way of you endlessly building up your cities. Razz

The only good thing are the graphics.
Just skip this game and forget that it exists.

There is a Steam review where the person says that the game is more complex after 10-12 hours or so.

Just think of the game as a wellness program to relax. It looks pretty. It's somewhat satisfactory to see a growing city. Its pretty. Maybe eat some glue before you play?

I'm going tomorrow to a YogaNNO lesson. You sit in front of a laptop and stare the screen. They give the game for free when you leave.

But its Anno!! it's not supposed to be like that, it is supposed to be taxing and ultimately rewarding when you have everything set up just right and your citizens are not running amok because they have run out of chocolate. Getting those trade routes just so, that they are a near perfect 100% efficient. Seeing your citizens happy and the fat git patricians guffawing with joy. Getting those little extras to add to your warehouse to increase the levy on goods or increase the yield of wheat. Setting those farms up just right so you use every cm of space and the fields look so nice and neat... Setting all your industry up so that the chain runs so smoothly and there are no manufacturing delays. ... Oooh the windmills!

I could go on Sad

Although you could enjoy the game, as long as you don't want an anno game or a challenge of some sort.

Eh it's not exactly a bad game, just way less complex than the other recent Annos but in turn far more annoying with the constant region swapping. For what it's worth, you do manage more population/buildings in the end than you could on the biggest maps in previous games, I think.

edit: Nvm figured it out.

nooo skylines is still easy to fail and you deffo need to think about placement and many other factors. Especially at the start of the game and probably late late game, when you start losing track of things and it all starts to spiral out of control. Very Happy

Anyone figured out how to get the faster game time on all the time? Pre-2070 we could configure the right-click menu with time buttons, but now the only option seems to be holding down +.

I'm liking the game. Taking things slowly. It's very relaxing.

As far as the removal of trade route setup crap from previous games... meh. In previous games I would have multiple ships with a trade route setup so it's basically as automatic as the current game.

Poor Anno, they really turned it into a potato Okay. I finally started playing..and I'm already contemplating the shift-delete. What's the point of releasing something like this under the 'Anno' name/brand, if it changes everything that made Anno compelling to begin with Crying or Very sad Laughing*shakes fist*

The focus on micromanagement has been heavily replaced by the macro one, if you add the gimped trading, no AI, the combat system taken straight from an iphone game (thankfully apart from the tutorial section, it seems to be optional) and so on, you have the full picture. The alternative ecosystems are interesting, with some variations/limitations, but they're not enough really in my opinion. There is simply not enough depth.

If anything, this is giving me the motivation to finally reinstall 2070 with this mod that caught my interest a while ago: http://www.moddb.com/mods/anno-2170-arrc

This game has 2 major annoyances for me, that even tarnish its appeal as an interactive aquarium.

The loading between regions takes far too much time, so you probably will try to avoid switching as much as possible.
Then these resources you only get from the iphone combat and those "quests" which only imitate the worst of mmo style quests. Actually tried to get those via cheat engine Cool Face, but I failed Okay

It's not just that though, its:
- Removal of pesky fertilities.
- Removal of trade, 2205 selling is a joke if you were not selling to save space in previous anno you didnt reach end game content this new implantation is virtually just removing trade entirely
- Removal of pesky disasters.
- Removal of pesky limited resources.
- Removal of Research and upgrades way to complicated.
- Removal of faction options and their pros and cons, corporate or eco?
- Removal of pesky pollution.
- Removal of pesky trial and error, free move buildings?, instant supply and demand stats.
- Removal of ships, upgrades, rival factions.
- Removal of MP with Friends.
- Removal of randomised maps and challenges. Get a million pop in 2070 that is fun.

This game is just placing buildings and achievement banners, you can't even approach the game differently to another player Laughing

Maybe at the start of the game. By the end, Arctic took 7 secs to load, temp zone 15 secs, and the moon 40 goddamn seconds despite having the least amount of buildings on it.

Thanks for the heads up, I did not really like 2070 but it's still better than this latest instalment.

Bah! Game will not start with that installed, tried the Anno cookie thing on the site, it tells me I have the wrong vers installed (I don't) will mess about with it a bit. I am probably better off playing the non UBI vers!

By the way, your map pack is now part of the main installer.

So if you don't have the legit version there is no way to trade with the "base" in order to make some money? Damn.
