At this point, i'd rather support uplay and see it grow, than further strenghten the steam monopoly.

So wanted to finally play this game and finish my Splinter Cell experience ... if i could show a emotion... to show how this game was handled on a PC, then this would be perfect and this one Mind Is Full Of Fuck and this one Facepalm

first of this game needs two patches , why ? because well ...

  • missing graphical options ,
  • fucked resolutions ,
  • not to mention this game will not start IF YOU WILL NOT EDIT THE INI FILE ...

tell me how fucked is that , when a PC game will not run because it does not recognizes your resolution .... so you have to set it manual in a INI file and then when this game will start then you can configure it more ... Facepalm
http://kotaku.com/an-easy-fix-for-splinter-cell-blacklists-game-halting-1178468665
easy fix my ass something like that should not be in a AAA multi million dollar game

OK so after all this fucked thing ... your now set to play this game , your mind is set to HAVE FUN ...

no

Fuck you said Ubisoft , guess what every 23 min this game will crash to desktop ...every FUCKING 23 FUCKING MINUTES ON THE PC ... why , Ubisoft posted a clear solution to this on the STEAM FORUMS ... every 23 min this game connects to Uplay servers IF THIS GAME WILL NOT SEE A SERVER OR WILL BE BLOCKED BY A FIRE WALL this game will crash .... Laughing nice , even the cracked version has the same problem ... tested this version also ... yes i bought this game on PC ...

so the PC version as of now is a stinking PILE OF SHIT ... yes it runs 120fps with crisp visuals BUT IT CRASHES TO DESKTOP every fucking 23 min

this but what so annoying , i got the XBOX360 fucked the graphics and wanted only to see the game ... thats how broken this game is on the PC

its actually the best ubi game of the last few years, you should skip on their rehashes like ac and fc, but this is worth a buy.

because million other PC users are wrong ... simple put they made this game NOT FUTURE PROOF , when this game needs access to a server every 23 minutes ... if not it will crash

like it was written before : a Ubisoft representative posted on a forum with a message this game calls home every 23 min , so if your firewall program will block Ubisoft servers or Uplay this game will crash ...

even the pirate version has the same thing , making all those cracked versions NUKED for me , when they could not block/spoof a simple "call home"

in the concurrent state this game is NOT WORTH HAVING ON PC , in Uplay mode you can save your game but it will crash every 23 min ... in offline it works but your not able to save your game

and if you think the cracked Uplay crack will help ... nope , it has the same error ... calling Uplay home every 23min and then game crashes ...

but if you own a console go get it ... this game is great ... but they fucked the story so bad ... i was ashamed i played it

@Hfric

I played isodemo for more than 23 minutes and didn't have any crashes though. But I experienced some strange visual glitches here and there when I had something enabled in setting, I think.
A first patch fixed it or prolly new drivers, I don't remember.

Of course there's a few threads on issues. people who don't have issues don't post a thread.

played legit version, with uplay online mode, no issues.

Obviously some people have issues (which are mostly Pebcak), but to call the PC version broken is an exaggeration.

You mad son? 46 hours, not a single crash. To say that it's not worth having on PC because it "crashes every 23 minutes" is ridiculous.

Oh, it's hfric spewing bullshit again, why do I even bother.

not you too Neo , when did you turned into Sabin and started Trolling users with BS ... this game started to crash when they implement silent calling to their cloud servers from patch 1.02 and from patch 1.03 it made it worse ... it calls Ubisoft IP 216.98.48.133 seven times then this game crashes after 50 min ... that was on patch 1.02 ... but on patch 1.03 they made it even worse from three to four ip pings thats 23 min and then thing game crashes ... thats really a shoddy coding

1.00 and 1.01 did not have those ... but yeah suddenly trolls will post they play their game perfectly fine... like it was written, yes you can only play this game only, IF you will not block Uplay and Ubisoft cloud servers ... even on the cracked version after the patch 1.02 and patch 1.03

and my opinion still stands , in its concurrent state the PC version is not worth having compared to the console version works as it should ... why ? you have to turn off your firewall , IP firewall , and spyware and then this game will go beyond the 23 min mark on patch 1.03 but you have to be still on line , but now your a sitting duck ... and yes like it was again written you can play this off line but on a legit version it will not save ... and the pirate version only work flawless off line only on the 1.01 beyond that it crashes

they did the same shit in Rainbow six Vegas 1 and 2 when the game silently downloaded marketing adds for your region and uploaded to market servers how much time you watch those adds ... if you blocked those servers ... this game would crash you have to fake the host file to make this game work

Don't get me started on technical issues with this game, I've tried on 3 separate PCs now and I still have issues with fullscreen mode and resolutions

I'll try my 4th PC tonight and see how it goes

the fullscreen mode works but only if you go to the INI file
INI is here :
C:\Users\yournamehere\Documents\Ubisoft\Blacklist\videoSettings.ini

Change "WindowStyleFinal=1" option to ... 0 is window mode , 2 is Exclusive Fullscreen , 1 is fullscreen

SET TO THOSE YOU USE IN YOUR DESKTOP RESOLUTION
MaxRefreshRate=60

THIS LINE IS FOR OPTION 1
FullscreenViewportX=1920
FullscreenViewportY=1080

THIS LINE IS FOR OPTION 0
WindowedViewportX=1920
WindowedViewportY=1080

THIS LINE IS FOR OPTION 2
FakeFullscreenViewportX=1920
FakeFullscreenViewportY=1080

to make the fullscreen mode work, you have to input the desktop resolution and refresh rate into the X and Y option you play... your desktop resolution

would say i agree with you but they drooped the ball , this game does not even run in 720p on 360 not to mention the ps3 version is butchered to hell and back ... but those versions are playable and future proof...

Splinter Cell: Conviction ran at just 1024x576 on 360 ... Laughing
and Black list runs at 1200x720 on the 360 and 1152x648 on Ps3 ... ouch ... textures are similar to those on PC ,but PS3 looks WAY WORSE Laughing

and guess what kinda now know why Skidrow fights Reloaded , they used a emulator dependence on 1.03 patch ... same on 1.02 ... you have to have installed Uplay and minimized it to play this game on theirs version , to play beyond the 23 min mark ... its like they copied 3DM crack... or way of cracking ...that are dependent on Steam Api so you have to have it installed on your system to make those work... or some other program they spoof to make their crack work

so to make this game future proof on PC when Ubisoft will say fuck PC... 1.01 works fine ... 1.02 needs Uplay in system memory ... 1.03 same on RLD and 3DM , but not on FTS hmm

its pretty great at times, but it certainly picked up a ton of trendy console game mechanics.

if you don't expect chaos theory, you won't be that dissapointed.

Hm, I remember yarr'ing it at launch. Was annoyed by multiple functions on buttons, the inability to holster that damn weapon that I wasn't ever going to use anyway and the lack of quick save function.

Hard not to keep one's mind on Chaos Theory when playing Splinter Cell. ANY Splinter Cell.

The fix for the intermittent crashing every half an hour or so is to add these parameters to the launcher.exe, not sure which one is the proper one but who cares, I have played 3 times these past couple of days and no more crashes.

-uplay_steam_mode -offline -offline_mode -nodrm -no_drm

Retarded Ubisoft...

I criticized Blacklist quite a bit back in the day because of its console-oriented controls/animations borrowed from the Conviction abortion, Bland Fisher, occasional off-putting fuckyeah Bay-like sequences and poor QA, however, the game as a whole can offer its fair share of satisfying stealthy moments. It's not what I wanted but at the end of the day, it doesn't qualify as a filthy imposter (not completely anyway), especially when confronted with the utterly dreadful state of stealth gaming in 2019.

All annoyances aside, the level design has a decent amount of complexity allowing for multiple approaches, the AI is responsive and the visuals still hold up nicely, plus, there are no elements of modern greedy Ubishittery in it which always helps. The perfectionist difficulty is the *only* acceptable way Blacklist should be played though, as any other compromise would mean entering the magical world of green pear-shaped spies with wallhack-y interfaces, mark 'n panther and other Convictionian nightmares.

Edit:

Now that I'm replaying it, I remembered about this old vital tweak that removes the silly detection arrows (and their pesky sound) by editing the .exe through a Hex editor:

Quote:
- Open the executable and find the line called HudDetection
- Change it to audDetection (by simply selecting the H and replacing it with the a, so that the editor doesn't throw any filesize-related errors)
- Save, et voilà

Unfortunately, it's still impossible to turn off the objective marker(s) - there's a mod for it but it disables the entire HUD which is too much.

This mod is also handy if you plan to use silenced guns: https://www.nexusmods.com/splintercellblacklist/mods/1

^ I know what you mean.

The first wave of streamlined products (adjusted by industry for consoles and masses) now feel like deep games with much more complex / surprising difficulty than nowadays press E to win games...

Some more examples of such 'first generation' of derpified games*:

• TES Oblivion
• Thief III
• Dragon Age II
• Crysis 2
• Mirror's Edge (yes)
• Medal of Honor (2010)

+ obviously more

*IMO statement required here
