I remember the 1st episode where you chased that Badum-Tss brother and I missed a jump and the chase ended in an unexpected way - I almost wanted to quit and start over, just to see how the chase was supposed to end.
I really expected something like that in the following episodes, but nothing.

Completed this one last night. Gotta agree with everyone, starts of promising, and the story and lore never really disappoint, but gameplay is non existent. not to mention the episodes kept gettings shorter and shorter. the last 2 were maybe an hour each at most.
this would be a great setting for a TV show though. compared to other comic book adaptations, it was surprisingly grey instead of being childishly black and white. puts to shame pretty much every super hero movie.

Licensing problems / bad sales I guess, think Tales of Borderlands was pretty well received though overall but I don't know how it sold or how it compares to Telltales newest licensed episodic games.

Well there's that, from what I heard the game engine they're using is something of a recurring issue too with even the console versions performing sub-par and they're having a pretty rapid release schedule too moving from one project to the next so support for individual and older projects is probably not too high.
I haven't played much of their newer franchises though, some of them have gotten pretty good receptions though but the recurring gameplay and limited impact on choices are still a thing last I checked.

They tried to cash in as much as possible in a very short time period, I assume they knew perfectly well their formula would get stale.

Haha yeah, I think you're onto something there. They didn't even try to invest any of that money in the renovation of that wooden and obsolete engine from ~2010, which has been used for all the countless of iterations with little variations, no fucks given mode.
When your games already provide zero contents in terms of gameplay, all that's left is the pure cinematic/involvement factor, and if you completely ignore that too, then the product inevitably ends up having a poor appeal. The quality writing has single-handedly saved some Tellfranchises at first, but since that factor has recently gone through a serious declining as well, running away with the money indeed sounds like a viable choice   |

Another important detail that I was reading is that one of the lead writers of The Wolf's first season and Tales from The Borderlands left the company back in 2014, to form Night School Studio (Oxenfree). Take that as you will  |

How many fucking years do we have to wait for a few hours of a good story? And it is episodic, too, so it will take fucking long for the seasons to end, so I can enjoy it. I don't like playing these short, easy episodes amd then waiting months for the next, I like blasting through a whole season.
