Interestingly, Clark believes the success of Sega's Japanese-developed games on Steam is having a beneficial impact on sales for other platforms as well.

"We've seen the growth of Japanese IP on Steam on PC; that never existed before," Clark said. "And it surfaces across other formats as well because gaming is now a social entity. You have your friends lists and you see what your friends are playing and it encourages you to dive back in to the games you maybe missed before or games you stopped playing. So we've seen that network effect of games being played on different formats now driving overall awareness."

Over the same span, Sega has also seen an increased appetite for its Western-developed content in Asian markets, China in particular.

"If you look at premium downloads via Steam, I would say 18 months ago China would have been a top 30 region for us. Today, it's a top 5 region. The growth from Steam has happened in the last five months, and it's been significant. It's been incredibly impressive."

Looks like it's Catherine which would make this the first Atlus Japan game on PC.

Half a decade too late imo.

Lookeed very original when it was new art style wise etc but till now we have seen too good games for this to be a success imo.

Even persona series doesnt seem that temptic to me anymore.

Ah, nice, always wanted to give this game a try.

What games are you talking about that are "too good" that supposedly made these games irrelevant? Not that I care for Catherine at all, but that's just nonsense.

catherine has a mediocre animeish relationship story + puzzle gameplay that isnt really that interesting.
Just recenly watched a twitch playthrough of catherine again (twitch streamer: RetroGaijin if anyone is interested) and it's just dull tbh.

Back in the day we didnt have many jrpgs or anything "like that" on steam.
Some years ago ppl would jump on Jrpgs or jgames in general just because steam was still uncharted by them.

From niche titles like way of the samurai to older blockbusters like dragons dogma and newer games like yakuza 0 steam changed for the better in that aspect.

Or do you really believe that for example catherine or a persona 3 fes edition/4 would be a mega hit on steam? (it might have been when it was relatively new though)

P.s.: There are even many games in a very similar style to persona/shin megami tensei games on steam already.(Tokyo Xanadu ex+, Lost Dimension, Mind zero etc. just to name some)

It is confirmed it's Catherine as it just got rated by the ESRB in the US for a PC release. The link below mentions the news but it seems there is a new enhanced version called Catherine Full Body that is coming to PS4 and they seem to believe that the PC version is the old PS3 edition port and not this new version which would be a bad choice from Sega.

It has been pointed out in the comments of both eurogamer, and the source it uses - siliconera - that: "It had PC rating on ESRB's site for a long time already. This isn't a recent change."

If true, then this is neither proof it's Catherine that is being teased (although I have very little doubt about it), nor that it's the original version (although I wouldn't be surprised as the remaster is PlayStation exclusive).

Catherine had, Catherine Classic would be a new addition would it not and would also be a indicator differentiating the game from Full Body edition which has altered story and a new (trap?) character.

EDIT: Still old or new version it's quite impressive SEGA managed to actually get that from Atlus at all.

EDIT: Nope the ESRB rating is still for "Catherine" so there goes that. Smile

It's a damn shame that the poor Condemned IP is still being held captive by Warnabrotha, even after all these years I would really like to play that bloody sequel Okay

https://games.sega.com/survey/

Quote:

Sega recently published a new survey but did a huge mistake. It was way too long for Sega Fans, many of them didn't have the courage to read all the pages.
I just gathered 40 pages (out of 60) of requested games from the previous Sega PC Ports Campaign.
If you want to add other game proposition for the next pollsn, send a PM with just the name of the title. Simple.
For the next update, I will make a list of the previous requested games now on the Steam.

Looks like SEGA is gathering info on and gauging interesting in PC ports and fan interest and requests.

EDIT: Or was gathering it seems, will be interesting to see what they announce for 2019 and 2020 since their output so far has been really good.

some good shit there

PC gaming also did quite well throughout FY2018 thanks to big games like Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami coming to the platform, and SEGA sees big opportunities for increased earnings. SEGA has plans to keep porting games over to PC storefronts like Steam in a bid to maximize reach, exposure, and sales across all gaming segments.

PS4 exclusivity will continue breaking down as SEGA adopts this multi-platform approach. The publisher affirms its new games will come to all systems, from PC to mobile and even next-gen consoles like the PlayStation 5

They will greenlight every kind of crap instead of a sequel to one of their most well received games.

"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

Imagine a world where developers kept focusing on what makes their games good, what made them popular etc instead of making such cheap fucking cashgrabs that look at best very mediocre. It won't be popular and they'll take a hit in the face after all is said and done.
