It's running through UE4 if I'm reading it right so I assume the sound source files or the original data were converted to this but something just didn't go very well and honestly it should and probably was flagged but since it's not outright breaking anything much as it kinda ruins the audio mixing and balance it gets a lower priority although I don't like seeing it being shipped and ignored despite multiple flights and testers pointing it out constantly.

It's not unfixable either but instead it's given a low priority and listed as a known issue and some vague answer on how it's a longer term fix among other issues and current shortcomings with the PC version.


EDIT: The game is doing some sort of not supported D3D11 behavior as well which is quite impressive if it is running through the commercial Unreal Engine 4.20 something version game engine.

Might not be a breaking error but it goes with the feel that the port still needed more work. Smile

EDIT: Or more directly WTF at poking into the way the game engine is doing this stuff and breaking DirectX 11 behavior, D3D12 or Vulkan well that's a thing it's a lower level API with a higher skill requirement and potentially several advantages as well but DirectX 11 from years back and getting that wrong?

Assuming it's not a UE4 error or something but that does seem unlikely.
(Coalition rigging up a earlier UE4 build with advanced D3D12 features for Gears of War 4 and again and more with Gears of War 5 that's something one can expect to need work but here well something kinda happened somehow.)


EDIT: Hell there's been other breaking changes on well working parts of Unreal Engine since at least UE3 and some PC ports but still a bit of a miss.

Well they have five more games to go and maybe eventually these and other problems can start getting fixed up.
(Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo ODST and Halo 4 though Halo 3 and ODST might get bundled together.)



EDIT: Wonder if Halo Infinity means Halo 5 will land on PC.

And does Infinity imply Cortana will get another growth spurt again pushing past Dead or Alive levels of data storage size. Razz
(Think that normalized a bit in Halo 5 though after someone realized what was happening ha ha!)

Halo 6 is already coming, yeah.

But Halo 5 is a bit different story cuz its older game and partly released on PC( Forge).

I hope the next step after all the collection released, its gonna be next.

Yes same for me i think, tried it for a bit earlier today from gamepass and it feels pretty awful to play. Dunno maybe i'm just spoiled by modern PC FPS standards and since i never really played any of the other games apart from Halo CE years ago i don't really have any attachment to the series either, so no nostalgia googles which probably help a lot for games like this.

tried reach and after a few minutes i couldnt care less, seems a product of its time, now is very meh. i thought after all this time it was going to be more than a port.

will try halo again when 4 and 5 will release, these seem to have more updated graphics but still looks generic, 5 is not in the collection but maybe it will be release on pc at some point if 6 comes too.

definitely not a game to buy a console for

The options for subtitles is under the Accessibility or something like that but it doesn't work. Nothing gets displayed.

Subtitles do work...in a way, you can see them in cutscenes. Laughing

I finished this recently and only when nearing the end did I remember that I played it on 360 when it got released. It was so memorable,lol. Very Happy

Halo games in my opinion are not all that great, just your basic shooters. Never understood why they are so hyped, maybe because they were on consoles and people didn't know better.
