Nice!
I hated FH3... I mean graphics were great, racing was ok, performance was so so... but the ass licking part!!! "oh Jacob, it's Your festival. Can I sit on Your face Jacob? Here is a car for You boss, it is YOUR festival after all. Can You piss in my face boss? There, I have new ferrari for You dear sir boss festival owner. Can I lick Your balls please? Your festival orgy is amazing"
Fucking hell that game was so annoying, so ass licking. It's seriously targeted at 12yo's and I couldn't stand it. And it was just boring... Not sure why because the formula should've worked. How could a live human being write all this terrible dialogue/story.
You wait for these idiots to stop licking Your ass all the time. They just talk and talk and talk... and You wait for something. Even selecting another car takes forever.
That said - I am interested to try more straight forward forza... maybe? am I?... no

Yeah, I know, the writing isn't on par with the Gears of War series.
Say what You want but Gears trilogy writing is fucking great. They know what they are doing and You certainly feel attached by the third game. The characters are funny, emotional and story is very interesting even though it's seriously underdeveloped. Show me a man who did not shed a tear in gears of war 3 and played (and liked) previous games. That games are going for something and do not hesitate (and do not waste Your time). It's like saying the Predator had shitty story. why.
That said - Now that You pissed me off, what does that have to do with Forza?

Still the writing in fh3 was miles ahead of last couple NFS or the dreadful sgit thats in Tge Crews
Yeah FH3 dialogue is not great, still douchebag like but NFS and The Crew were way way waaaaaaaaay worse. Doubt they could ever write something decent. That car bro culture is just too shallow to begin with.
Absolutely, at the end of the day both this and Horizon are more dignified options than whatever EA is doing with Need for Yolo's poor cinematic one-button cadaver, or Ubisoft and their bling-bling-powered open-world motorboat simulator.
I've been playing the ghetto pre-codexian release - not without facing the initial phase where disappointment and sad trombones were reigning, however, things got better as soon as I lowered the expectations for a realistic/simulative driving model and simply accepted the game for what it is. As something that's reminiscent of ye ol' Toca and GRID it does its job without being cringe-worthy or excessively insulting when it comes to the handling.
Granted, the collision system is damned simplistic, the AI is seemingly unaware of the player and is made of genuine rubberband , cars tend to understeer a lot and there's always some sort of virtual steering help from Maradona's hand of god, but with all the aids disabled and with a clean HUD (both highly recommended) the game isn't a disaster. The amount of drivable cars is rather impressive, while as for the circuits it's a bit of a mixed bag. The career is ..serviceable, the usual grind-friendly structure where the player starts from the lowest classes and gains money to buy cars/upgrades and whatnot. There is a lousy lootboxian system in place (of course ) which I avoided like the plague and am planning to keep it that way.
The graphics can be quite inconsistent as well, some tracks lack details and sometimes the cars look like they're just floating, though it's not a bad looking game. The lack of dynamic weather/TOD besides some predetermined presets is disappointing - many circuits can only be sunny also, which is pure laziness - but on the bright side I seem to be lucky enough to be able to run the whole thing on High details/1080p/AA2x with steady 60fps and no crashes despite the abysmal Winstore.
It's a shame that Microsoft doesn't want to use their huge budget for something that's more simulative and can actually aim at rivalling the superior Project Cars, but I imagine that given the financial results and target audience they really don't need to do so in the first place. Still, it's worth an isoride if one can stomach the junky Microstore and pseudo-arcade aftertaste, the experience is very far from being great but better than the crippled competition around.
The graphics are so bland because they need to push 4K on a derpbox at 60. That's why the engine is so lacking and track ornaments are so few and far between and poor.
After a few hours I came to the conclusion that I just don't like this game.
The handling of the cars is weird, like you expect a car to slide... but it comes always later than in other games. You get wheelspin... later than you'd expect. Jenson would ragequit with all the understeer they throw at you. Eventually I kind of got used to it but it just wasn't enjoyable.
A.I. ... holy motherfucking shit it was bad. There is nothing dynamic during racing. Everyone gets their designated spot and will finish that way an 'entire championship'. They don't react to you at all. Monza was a great example: I gained positions with the start, thought I'd take it easier on the braking at T1 and got torpedoed harder than a Kvyat could imagine. I'm used of some Aussi divebombing in that corner from F1... but shit, that A.I. was on a track and did not care for a car in front of it. Nor do they care for you besides them or you sliding in again after an overtake.
Tracks look bland and the preset weather is daft. Also a bit limited when you take in mind it's a circuit racer and doesn't even offer half of the tracks of some of the championships it tries to provide.
All that buying cars, limited upgrading, lootbox, driver gear, made up championships, mods,... it all just feels out of place for a 'circuit racer' It's like it was made for the kids that go: "I don't like racing on tracks".
In all honesty it works all better in FH3, I'd rather play that when I need to choose between the two.
Sadly there's also the fact that the game and it's closed $ofty environment are pretty much unmoddable (the folks at Racedepartment have practically given up), so all the wonky behaviors, physics and AI patterns are there to stay forever
The complete lack of penalty systems for ramming and/or aggressively corner cutting is quite baffling as well, even for the semi-arcade formula. I don't even want to imagine what could possibly happen in a random online match...Forzageddon 7
Yeah, I imagine it is quite worse than what I've seen in some of the other simcades.
At Watkins Glenn I came into a slide and I missed the Inner Loop going pretty much straight through it, it baffled me I didn't get a penalty, So naturally I tried cutting bigger parts of the track... nothing.

2018 has been a whirlwind of activity in the world of Forza. It’s been just over nine months since we launched Forza Motorsport 7 and there are just over two months to go before the next great Forza game – Forza Horizon 4 – releases on October 2. In the Forza Racing Championship, we crowned Noble b0x after his fantastic performance at our Series 1 Playoffs here in Seattle, and Series 2 is now going strong. In June we also welcomed Playground Games into the Xbox first-party developer family, strengthening our Forza ties more than ever before. With all this action, I thought it would be a great time to take a few moments to appreciate where we’ve been so far this year and to let the Forza community know about some important steps yet to come.
Our players’ expectations of games and their experiences have changed over the years and, since launch, the team at Turn 10 has been working incredibly hard on Forza Motorsport 7. We’ve all been inspired by the brilliant passion of the Forza community. You’ve been tireless in sharing your feedback about the game, letting us know what you like and what you’d like to see improved. Along the way we’ve done our best to listen to, absorb, and most importantly, act upon that feedback.
Since launch we’ve released more than 15 major updates to Forza Motorsport 7, which have included improvements across all aspects of the game – from PC performance enhancements to bug fixes and more. We’ve introduced new features like multiplayer test drive, new panning focus mode in Photo Mode, improved paint tools, as well as a new Data Out feature that allows players to take advantage of a UDP data stream to develop custom companion experiences for the game. We’ve also released new cars from manufacturers like Porsche, Honda, and Ford, available to all Forza 7 players for free. The result is a game that is deeper, more open, fun, and responsive, and more representative of the Forza community than ever.
We’ve got lots of great stuff still to come. We’re continuing to pour our heart and soul into Forza Motorsport 7, including building brand-new experiences like our “experimental drag racing” feature, as well as introducing game enhancements like updated track limits, Time Attack mode, drift scoring and enhanced drift steering angle, and our upcoming Forza Race Regulations systems, all of which have developed from our ongoing conversation with the Forza community.
One major area of discussion for the team has been prize crates. While we’ve never charged money for prize crates in Forza Motorsport 7, their presence in the game has continued to be a source of controversy. The overwhelming feedback has been that this system feels out of place in the game. After careful consideration, we have decided to completely remove prize crates from Forza Motorsport 7. Similarly, paid tokens – which were a part of previous Forza games – will not be coming to Forza Motorsport 7 or Forza Horizon 4.
Due to the complexity of removing prize crates from the game – while keeping access to Driver Gear, Mods and Badges – we expect that this process will be completed in the winter timeframe. Starting this month we’ve already taken steps towards that goal, first by unlocking more than 100 previously locked “exclusive” cars and, second, by completely removing cars from the prize crates in the game. The current lineup of prize crates offer no competitive advantage and only offer Driver Gear suits, Mods and badges, and these crates will remain in place until crates are removed entirely.
This game should be renamed to Forza: Grindsport 7 I never played game with so much grinding... fuck them.
Atleast online is fun idiots thinking: if I brake 30m later I will pass the other guy... for sure.
Or when someone rams you and you catch him at the end (beacuse he sucks) nothing feels better than vendetta
From what I remember this was the worst racing game I ever played, on par with Project Cars 3. I'm reinstalling it again to see what it's like but I don't think that I'm mistaken.
Yeh, FM8 is coming (who knows when.. but the game engine is done since Horizon 5 is using it) and will most likely be very similar to FM7 but with better graphics and better physics. FM8 isn't an arcade/casual game like Horizon, it's much closer to that of a racing simulator where you go round and round and round on a track with advanced physics that makes the cars much more difficult to drive. I don't enjoy that kind of games.
I prefer more arcade focused racing where the handling isn't ridiculously difficult and overly realistic while still feeling really good. That's where Horizon 4 shined. When you were finished with the introductory nonsense the game would open up and you were no longer bound to the festival, instead focusing on racing online or offline, free (unranked) championships or ranked championships. The tuning part of the game is pretty advanced and makes a lot more difference than just boosting the speed etc.. You change shock absorption, spring height/stiffness, camber, toe in/out etc. etc. etc. and they all make a difference in handling which will decide whether you win or lose.
You should stop using "overly realistic" and forza in the same sentence. I get your point but FM7 is nowhere near as realistic as rfactor2/raceroom/iracing.
It's in-bewteen arcade and simulation and I expect the same from FM8. Which sucks, cuz I like both arcade and simulation, just hate these in-between ones.
