You know csebal, a game sucks as much as the player lets it to. That's about all i can say about your oppinion that "this game sucks" is valid.

Let me tell you this, buying or not buying, who loved xcom and wanted to finnish it again, in a more maneagable interface, but keep the original's flavor, he can safely play UFO:ET and enjoy it. But who wants to play a game that takes and improves the ideas that the original XCOMs had, he might enjoy more the UFO:AL. UFO:AL is not a bad game, very far from it, it's just a different game than this one.

Btw, realise this, it's harder to copy a game to perfection than to take the ideas and improve on them. This game is the exact copy of XCOM1, with it's bugs and gameplay wierdness, so, apart from the thing that you can't exactly sack your soldiers, you're playing XCOM in a, let's say, year 2k style graphics(i didn't say 2007, cause...wth, these are not 2007 graphics).

I told you it could only be as good as the original, but most likely it will be inferior.. lets see, i was right.

So, basically, you allegedly told us the game would suck, but that it could also be as good as the original. Man, Nostradamus is a n00b at predicting, compared to you. Shocked

Let me give it a shot...

In 349 days, it will rain in Los Angeles! But it could also NOT rain!

I already feel special. Very Happy

For the fact that the enemies come to you after MANY turns, why in the God's name would you want to wait for them to come to you? That's the only strategy you could come up in a strategy game? Why don't you go hunt for them instead, that's what a normal strategist would do. But then again, one can consider waiting for them to come to you to be a strategy too.

No matter how you try to deny it, but apart from the year in which the game was made, every single attribute of XCOM is greater/better than that of UFO:ET. It is not hard, considering that UFO:ET only tried to copy XCOM, which evidently resulted in making an inferior product.

Can it be enjoyed? Sure it can.. hell i can enjoy tic-tac-toe even for a while, especially if i force my mind to do it, to save my face.

You still liked the Aftershite series which pretty much renders your opinion on the genre moot. UFO:ET may be a bit of a disappointment, but it's still 10x better than any of those garbage games are.

is there actually a goal in the game? i build a base in every country, and am in the techtree with all the particle weapons. but still nothing like a special mission like in the previous ufo games.

Try capturing a commander.

The main problem I find with this game is the difficulty with the money. There doesn't seem to be any real indication of how well or how bad you did in a particular month, besides the good or bad thing. That and everything funnels money constantly. Either have them paid at the end of the month or funnel money constantly, but not both.

It would be nice to have a setting for walking speed for enemies and your own troops, as well shooting animation speed. As in X-COM.

Kinda put off after a rather nasty accident last night. I had a Raider on it's way to attack a landed Cruiser and about 5 seconds before it arrived, it took off and blew my Raider out of the sky with one shit, killing all of my veteran soldiers. Sad

Hehe, always send raptors first to a landing site and keep them there until your Raider has landed.

New review.

Damn, this game can be modded? Smile

sweet

And not only that, but everything in the game can be modified. So far they modded the quick keys into the tactical phase.

Check out the dev forums on the moding threads. Tons of stuff there. Even the graphics can be modified...

P.S. Also, the camera centering on the bullets and soldiers when they move can be disabled trough some simple moding.

I tried it and it works, you have to follow the installation order to the letter because the install is in russian, but you can select it to install the english version.

Oh and has anyone else problems with the screen stuttering when youre on a mission?

you will find out how to make new craft (one of which takes ALOT of individual bits built one at a time-like engine section, weapon control, hibernation suite) this will then let you travel to the aliens homeland(i think) i am not sure about if the ship is to escape or to take the fight to the aliens homeworld,as i am just at the building parts of it stage atm

yea i just captured another commander, like mentioned above, und now i built all the individuals except the generator. i think i need to capture some more commanders, as i already captured like 7 or so since i started building the items for the new ship.
