Why didn't Kairosoft bother make it on PC/Mac in the first place ?
They did GDS is an iOS/Android port of an old PC title that was released in Japan only. There's even a SEQUEL to that game, available free of charge from Kairo's website, sadly only in Japan again. There's a translation patch for GDS2 but it's shite.
I finally reached the "end" of the game with ~200M and a dozen of Top Hits, all medium RPGs/Strategy Games PC-only for mature audience released without the help of any publisher. No silly AAA stuff, MMOs and games for casuals
I would love to play a deeper sequel with more options, upgradable engines, more 'involving' development and less randomness in the future, it has a great potential.
What the fuck is this Game Dev Story thing ?
Oh I see ... iPhone, Android app.

Don't download it on either, especially if you have shit to do. I made that mistake once, 8 hours later.....wait fuck..I forgot to eat! Their, hero quest one, where you build a town and they go out and fight is pretty fun as fucking hell too.

Thanks,
But you know, I am some kind of silly extraterrestrial.
See, I am playing Simcity, The Sims and such.
Also I don't even have an iPhone nor an Android phone ... Windows Phone user here
But don't worry about my mental health though ... I switched from IE10 to Chrome recently.
So I think I am hopefully not totally lost

Most of the Kairosoft games are more addictive than crack. Only games i played for like 6 hours straight.

The big news is that Valve gave us the green light so Game Dev Tycoon will come to Steam!
Steam is a big deal; it’s one of the few systems where a lot of players genuinely support developers and, unlike in app stores, any new game is vetted for potential and featured on the front page when it releases.
We would have released on Steam as soon as possible a few weeks ago, but since our story was reported we had a big influx of players (both paying and pirates) and, while it’s clear that many players enjoy their experience with Game Dev Tycoon, we also saw some frustrations and have to admit that Game Dev Tycoon could use some more polish. From the feedback we received and from watching players play the game we can see that there are some flaws which hinder the game’s potential and lessen the game experience.
Listening to player feedback – We want to do better

When we developed the mechanics for Game Dev Tycoon, we noticed early on that creating a sophisticated rule-set is hard. That’s probably the reason why most social tycoon games simply rely on grind-mechanics. In those games you can just level up this, spend money on that and while there is some strategy involved, it largely doesn’t matter what you do as you’re guaranteed to succeed. Game Dev Tycoon has similar elements but the core mechanics don’t work like that. In Game Dev Tycoon you can create a good game from the start but you can also create a bad game with a great team. We like this and want to keep it that way but admittedly the balance is sometimes off. The problem is that the game is tuned for some play styles but not for others. The game can be too punishing at certain stages and, what’s worse, it doesn’t give you enough feedback to be able to adapt your strategy. Sure, you could play following a wiki with a calculator at hand but we never wanted the game to be played this way and playing according to a wiki only ensures that you lose out on any fun and sense of achievement you might have otherwise had.
Our next goal is to address these balance/feedback issues and to take a bit of time to improve and polish the game further. Don’t expect any major additions (that’s what a sequel is for!) but you can expect some improvements/small additions and a more polished game experience.
Fixing the game balance and adding features isn’t easy and one sure way to mess it up is to hurry a patch out the door. That’s why we cautiously set the estimated release date for the updated version to August 2013. We plan to release this updated version on Steam first and all customers will get it for free through their Steam keys.
To be honest, I'd be happy if they did streamline it. The game is amazing but what they said about calculators is certainly spot on; it's just too damned finicky about what works and what doesn't, with a VERY fine line between those god damned fucking sliders that can make or break a game.
Exactly, and that ruins the game for me a bit. Yes, it's fun, but when you have no idea what to do, it completely spoils the game.
Yup You can fiddle your way through and sometimes push out a decent game - but I really would like some deeper understanding of the mechanics, without having to resort to the wiki and the Greek Salad tables

(put game title here)
6/10 : Nice game overall
Pros : Graphics, gameplay, sound
Cons : Story/scenario, another military FPS, day one DLC...
Now THAT's more like it. "Good Game, 6/10" and "Waste Opportunity 3/10" is hardly good feedback and isn't conducive to creating better games.

Good info. I actually dished out $8 for this game as it was fun at first, but kinda meh right now, as it seems to be just dumb luck and strange algorithms that determine a titles success. Be nice if you could modify your game engine too and add "modules" or something instead of having to always create a new one. Shit is expensive
So I created a PC game called "X Universe" which was a `Mature` `Space` `Simulation` game with `3D graphics V1` and `Stereo Sound`. It had 9 scores across the board. It sold many units and made an upward of a 1.5m in sales. Then I saw some publishing deal that required a `Everyone` `Space` `Simulation` on one of the consoles. I was like " Imma make millions". Called it "X Universe 2". I invested in graphics and sound more this time. Reviews were 4,5,5,6 and game sold more due to publisher but I lost some 200k because they wanted 8+ and totally it made 300k in sales.
And this is when I realized this game is not a simulator but a lala-land fantasy for the developer.
