I'm still kinda wary about the Skidrow release. They've proven to be outclassed and outdated by the other big groups over and over again while releasing buggy/faulty cracks. However, I'll check it out and if I really like it I may buy it.. well, I would if it didn't come with Denuvo (which I'm sort of skeptical to since Skidrow released the game so fast. perhaps they used a beta or demo exe used at E3, GDC or similar.)
I've played like 6-8 hours so far and had no issue.
I wish it had sandbox mode without worrying about the career goals and keep playing as long I want. The campaign structure feels like a tutorial and easy.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
So, I got as far as the second hospital last night. There's an option to erect more buildings; my question is: is it necessary to have a reception in every single building? I mean, will patients know where to go if there's only one, and will having more than one only attract more patients?
Don't be fooled by the lack of sandbox mode - you can always go back to any hospital you started previously, and as most of them have a lot of expandable land, you can play for as long as you want - and bring all the upgrades back to older hospitals too. You can play each and every one as much as you want.

No, one reception is enough. You only need receptions at the main entrance - more than one is good for busy queues, but they can be anywhere in the hospital if you feel like making patients walk around - make a path of magazine stands and force them to walk to the other side of the building if you want - but once they've spoken to reception, they'll wander around to wherever they need to go - even if it's the other side of the campus - a lot like real life

I would happily disagree - you can micromanage as little or as much as you want - you can adjust costs for every single treatment level, and staff wages - increasing wages and/or negotiation of contract yields more training slots for each staff member - and there are a LOT of 'perks' you can train - and training is not instant either (you build a training room later on), and then that depends on who's training and THEIR skill level.
And that's just one little bit.
Honestly, the derpsole version of JP is hideous compared to the utter joy this game is to play. It really is Theme Hospital 2, and it is glorious.

Kaltern: great , thx ... i mostly ment just the lack of challenge and lack of management part ... so glad that at least the management part ius tight unlike PC/JWE
is it just me, or is this game way more easy then teh original..
im playing for 3 hours now and its just too easy, dunno...
Is there an setting for how hard it is?
i find it too easy.. for now...
maybe i need more hospitals and managing them all at once could be more demanding, lets see..

It is indeed very easy. The entire thing feels like a tutorial and anything complex the game wants to offers has no value at all.

And you can ignore all these and still breeze through everything.

Yeah, so far the game is far more easy than the original Theme Hospital.. the challenge is mostly up to your level of fussiness - and you don't abuse the pause to manage/build everything with unlimited time to waste
Does it get somewhat more challenging towards the end ?

Agreed, the game absolutely nails the semi-serious tone with all the hilarious little animations and clay-like aesthetics, it's polished and the gameplay has solid core basics, but *symptoms of Bed Face popping up* it does indeed feel like something is missing from the doctor's receipt.
The very low challenge (so far) is one part of the issue (things will probably get more hectic later on since there should be earthquakes, fires and hostile weather involved), the other one for me is the building scheme itself which lacks the necessary variety/customization to keep things fresh in the long run. Everything is a bit too much on the rinse and repeat-y side (even more than it should be), it would really benefit from spending time in the ward with mods and goodies from the community nurses.
The challenge does get harder later on, starting with when you have to do the research hospital (I think it's #4 or #5). You literally can't hire anyone with skills and have to train them all up from scratch (which costs time and money you don't have). Not to mention they start pumping endless patients your way.
Then the hospital after that one you've gotta cure something like 200 patients with an 80% success rate, again with a very high influx of people.
Not super hard, but definitely harder than the opening salvo of missions.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Yeah its a bit easy, bit of a let down. Tho i just finished Hospital 5, the "Mitten University". Hope it gets harder since there are afaik atleast 15 Hospitals.
