I played it a bit and I have to say it is pretty bad. This could totally kill the game for a lot of existing fans. |
To early to say if it's good or bad.
It's basically a new game. Only played 3-4 games and didn't had a clue what to do, could be that in the end it's a good card game.
But also didn't realy felt the need to keep playing though.
Do think the game will fail. It's very beginner unfriendly and not even remotely like Witcher 3 Gwent, most people will just not botherto learn it and quit after a few games.
Probably switch to artifact myself i've that game has a reasonable prize tag (something that will probably not be the case)

| Quote: | Gwent a "Financial Disappointment", Kotaku Reports
Kotaku reports, based on insider sources in CD Projekt RED, that Gwent, the stand-alone edition of the Witcher 3's minigame, turned out to be a financial disappointment. The developers have yet to comment on the matter. |

Not surprising at all. A lot of fans were very disappointed after the initial hype on release. It didn't capture the gwent spirit from W3 at all.

Soooo... anyone (still?) playing the game? How is it?
I remember not being blown away by Gwent in TW3, but hear this is rather different from that iteration.
How fun is the game and how much grinding is involved? Also, is it possible to play against steam friends or only versus random enemies, as decided by matchmaking?

Witcher Tales: Thronebreaker - the single player game is good. It has a nice story and it's not boring despite being 20+ hours long.
GWENT: The Witcher Card Game - the multiplayer game sucked dick the last time I played and that was shortly after launch. I heard it was improved over time, but it was a massive fail initially and it never picked up. I didn't bother to check it out after that, but it has to be better now.

GWENT in Witcher 3 is simple and...mroe fun. At least I enjoy it more than this standalone game.
The game got worse with updates though it still has best animation/effects in CCG game. It is somewhat better now but I stopped since LoR came out.
Game is still F2P friendly and not super grindy. You can play with friends.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Thanks! Will check it out after I'm finished with Thronebreaker.
Oh, another question: if I were to play Gwent on Steam, do I still need to install/run GOG Galaxy? I'm not too keen on having another client on my PC.

Is there anyone here who played Thronebreaker via GOG (if also finished it, that's even better), but hasn't played Gwent yet?
And willing to do me a small favour by accepting my game invitation so that I can earn some goodies?

GWENT_Rogue_Mage-Razor1911
I'll wait for a few patches, and then try it out.
Edit: GOG version is also out.
