If it's that easy I must be really dumb because I have no idea what I am supposed to do once I put in the cog. I run out of bullets and I get killed in a minute.
I noticed Moira can use her crowbar to open that door but while she tries to she never opens it in time. Do I have to protect her as Claire until she opens it? What do I do with all those monsters after me?

Use the Hub flamer in the middle of the room and point it at the enemies to burn them.
Game running at 60fps for me. Only hitching sometimes on entering a new area.

Heh, guess that must be why there was some achievement for not using a flamethrower in a area in episode 1.

Claire chapter = stuttering.
Barry chapter = no stuttering even when I am in the same areas I was with Claire.
Conclusion: Capcom coding = lol.
I just finished both chapters. That was.. weird. I know it's just Ep1 but it felt like a prologue (something like.. Ep0), really. I feel that in an hour of gameplay in REvelations1 there was more gameplay than in this "episode". In other words the game felt so.. empty.
It really needs to have more stuff happening in the next episode!

I finally got my third world internet connection working (*grr*) and managed to play through this short episode. Mixed feelings, mixed feeling everywhere.
I'm definitely not impressed so far sadly, it retains so many problems and wrong gameplay decisions, that I really find hard to enjoy something like this after having recently savoured the remastered reremade RE1.
It's like eating a cheap ass ghetto beignet after a tasty homemade cake.
I mean, it's nowhere as terrible as unmentionable stuff like that game with the pervert giraffe logo, but the atmosphere is lacking (especially in the first part, then it's Alanident Wakevilish), there's hand-holding, linearity, barely no puzzles, fast-paced action and whatnot, similarly to the first Revelations, only more pronounced. We need better new Resident Evils men..

I'll skip this... watched some "Let's play" of the first episode and... fuck off with that shit. I still get too much RE4+ pew pew vibes from this.
Gimme an oldschool RE with fixed camera angles, tedious inventory management and tons of backtracking, limited supplies and so on... pretty please

Notice how cleverly the devs reused the same map. Saves costs, it does!

Everything turned to shit after RE4. I know a lot of people present RE4 as some kind of holy masterpiece, but I felt it was the beginning of the end. I still remember how fucking disappointed I was when I bought and played it back in 2006 on PS2. They decided to drop everything that made RE series unique and now we are here in 2015 with Revelations 2 that no one asked for - a stupid, brainless third-person shooter, just another cheap, pathetic, lazy effort without any sense of direction and soul. They clearly have no idea what to do with this franchise, especially after RE6. Same shit happened to Silent Hill and Final Fantasy.
How fucking hard is it to make another RE1 Remake style game that everybody seems to love with current graphics and controls? Go back to the start or just give it a rest already. You can't milk it forever, Crapcom.

That is very true.
The biggest problem with RE4 in my opinion, is that it shouldn't have been called 'Resident Evil' in the first place. I enjoyed it for what it was, a spin-off-ish experience and a different take on the franchise, something relatively new, but not part of the classic series.
Unfortunately its huge success coupled with Capcom greediness and constant seeking of a broader audience did the rest, and actually made things much worse.

Final Fantasy XIII gets points for overall fluffiness, plus it does not make any sense at all. I can appreciate this in games. Anyone played Deadly Premonition? Now that was batshit crazy stuff.

FOR ME another part of the RE's fail is that everything goes so fast. I mean Crapcom are advancing really fast in the timeline. They are throwing new factions/corporations in the game all the time. Now in Rev 2 there's some new crap again, Safe Terra or whatever. I can't even remember its fucking name.
Personally I love the scenario where some team gets stuck in some bad scenario, with no way out and such. Like in RE1, like in FEAR, you know what I mean. I would love to see more of this. I like scenarios where I have to adapt to the situation and survive/escape while I am being separated with my other team members and they get slaughtered, etc. In the new RE games its basically some black op secret shit where you are after some shit ass corporation, your whole mission is to take it down while killing everything that gets in front of you along the way. Sorry but this is bullshit. I like the idea of being regular operative like in RE1 or RE2. I don't dig this special agent crap.
This is strictly a personal thing though. It doesn't make the games bad but you know what I mean. The whole feeling is different in lets say RE1 and RE6.
In REV2 is basically the same joke
Spoiler: | I am kidnapped by some fag corporation and they are doing experiments blah blah blah... I am not there yet but I can bet 10$ that I will HAVE TO take down that evil corporation once again |

I'll give this game at least something. It's the first RE game since 0 where killing enemies does not drop items, a tradition that started with RE4.

That's actually true. Didn't see a single drop from enemies in that playthrough.

Realistically the game is already done. They are just emulating the TV show format of "zomg cliffhanger I have to tune in next week to see what happens next!"
Which is hilarious because right now the format of Netflix of having an entire first Season available from the beginning is the one that is being praised as revolutionary, not the other way around!
Alan Wake was also going to be released with a new episode every week or two but they concluded gamers were against it.

Big spoiler regarding who the bad guy or actually girl is in this game who presents herself in Ep1 as "The Overseer":
Spoiler: | She is Alex Wesker, as mentioned in RE5 there were 13 "Wesker" test subjects under the orders of Oswell E. Spencer and Alex Wesker was conducting experiments for him in an island until she betrayed him and disappeared. I am not sure if this is the same island but the idea is the same. |
