OMG it must be true!!^&^&$$#$ all the developers are hiding in their closets and pissing their pants cuz a multi-million dollar game has been canceled but no one wants to tell us!!!
get real. they are hard at work on the game. and if you even try going to their official site you will see updates less than a month ago. i think its a good thing, not sticking to a set time table. i myself hate that games are becoming like hollywood productions, ie packaged piles of stinking crap, but on time and on schedule! thats why most of the good games are coming from places not in america.

While it was already known that GSC World's oft delayed FPS S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl was no longer expected in 2005, there was no specific date given for when it was rescheduled. Earlier reports indicated it could be as late as fall 2006, but in THQ's quaterly financial results released earlier today it became clear that, fortunately, we will not have to wait THAT long as it is now listed for April 2006. Unless of course it gets postponed again in a few months. |

Wrong info, it is to optimistic, this link is more reliable http://pc.ign.com/articles/638/638999p1.html
Bad news this is.
Firts, stalker will be released after april 2006
Second, the publisher has no idea what the team behind stalker is doing, making a duke nukem forever story likely.
third, the publisher has low expectations of the game, claiming only that the graphics will be as good as doom, sure they will have there reasons for doing so.

It is really bad that this game has been so delayed.
This is one of very few games I have truly been looking forward too. Great graphics (Fuck Doom3 take a look at the In-Game videos of this baby).
Several square miles to more around at, low- and high-life engines.
Meaning that the area you are in will run high-life meaning you will see, be attacked and change during time.
Low-Life will handle the other areas you are not currently in and keeping animal life going and changing, also other stalkers will walk those areas and scavenge stuff.
Any AI stalker can finish the game before you by completing the ultimate quest or something like that. More then 10 different endings depending on what you have done throughout the game.
Realistic weapons and vehicles that will most likely pwn you whenever you attack them (Mi-28 Hind anyone? good luck taking that one down with Beretta 92FS).
Several drivable vehicles like an APC, a car and so on.
Enhanced Havok Psysichs that will give very realistic physics.
Go download some trailers and stuff over at www.oblivion-lost.com
Behold his GLORY! Bow for the technical master!

From the previews i've read and the screenshots i think this will be a huge hit, no matter if it comes in Q2 or Q4 of 2006.
I love the new turn that FPS:s are taking, implementing RPG-elements and so on. It's much more rewarding to get cash from an enemy that you kill so you can later spend it on armor, weapons, ammo, upgrades, vehicles and so on rather than getting +1 frag. Boiling Point did it but the game itself didnt quite cut it. Hopefully Stalker will be as good as we all hope.

This is why I love Deus Ex...the combination of FPS and RPG elements...to bad there aren't many games like this.
I never tried boiling point, is it crappy game? is there any other game that I might have missed that have FPS and RPG elements?

Not really a game, but RPG mod for Unreal Tournament. Lots of fun, especially when combined with the MonsterPack, and played in Invasion mode.
