They still are. There was a post saying this forum would die a horrible death and ISO news would go on forever. Recently I went to sign up because it's a waste land over there and was going to quote the posts saying "...so this post didn't age well" but the sign ups are broken lol
I was 19 when I discovered this forum, I think it was over that Star Wars Empire at War game that had come out, couldn't for the life of me get those mini images that were popular back then to work with the then popular Alcohol 120%

I think I join in 2002? First posted on forums in 2004 I think.
Mostly when I joined was here for nfo files I couldn't find or some re-repacker on a IRC DCC bot didn't include in a zip.

Sure, its just that companies refactored MIRC into web servicess that now earn billions of dollars. twitter, reddit, tardbook, slack/teams/other etc.
For me these are just accessible forms of IRC that also allow rich media. Yep i miss IRC though for its chat, trivia/games, fileservers etc. but there are just better mediums for this now.

I joined the Hump after quite a few years spent creepily lurking in the shadows, I really liked the idea of a forum where I could converse about stuff without the constant fear of getting banhammered for mentioning the subject of free yarr and everything that surrounds the art of being a filthy buccaneer - unlike all the other gaming-focused Italian boards (now practically defunct) that I used to be a part of back in the early 2000s. Little did I know that it would turn out to be such an addictive place. I regret nothing
