No, the requirement is to have a driver that supports DX9. Any modern card, and I mean even GF2-modern card has such drivers. Basically, if you have XP with DX9 and the card is working, you have DX9 compatible card. The whole shabeng is support for SM3.0 and the like, which is clearly not required by this pos.
Now, I don't know exactly about this game, but that is what compatible means.

Im not really sure what you are talking about Lnatan. Yes, you do need dx9 drivers to play, but isnt it comming from your video card? I mean if your card does not support dx9, how are you going to install those drivers, so no dx9 Vcard=cant play games that need it. He has gf3 card, but he wont able to install dx9 ( i think), because it simply doesnt support it, and anyways this is not tech section.

Jesus, wtf are you all talking about?! If nVidia releases drivers for that card, then THE CARD AND THE DRIVERS ARE COMPATIBLE. Compatability doesn't make the card a DX9 card. A 3DFX Voodoo card doesn't have drivers that work with DX9, so it's not COMPATIBLE.
To prove my point, here's a quote from the readme of Dark Crusade:
Quote: | 1. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
a. Minimum spec:
- Windows® 2000/XP * DirectX 9.0c (included on disc),
- 2.0 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent AMD Athlon XP processor *
- 512 MB RAM * 980 Mb free hard drive space
- 32 MB DirectX 9.0b compatible AGP video card with Hardware Transform and Lighting
- DirectX 9.0b compatible sound card, 16-bit * Keyboard * Mouse.
b. Recommended:
- 2.4 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent,
- 512 MB System RAM (required for 8-player multiplayer games).
- nVidia GeForce 3 or equivalent with 64 MB of Video RAM.
- Sound Blaster® X-Fi(tm)
|
Now, notice the game requires a DX9 compatible card, but recommends a GF3, which is not a DX9 card.
Jeez...

Lnatan, get out of this thread if you hate this port.. No need to quote every post and laugh at this "POS" that most people here are enjoying ; furthermore, lack of shaders and "stupid" keyboard controls ( people with some common sense know that RE is no run-and-gun game) don't make a game.

If you have DX9 drivers installed and your video card works fine it doesnt mean you card is DX9 compatible. Every fucking card works fine with DX9 drivers, but older cards doesnt have DX9 features. When the game requires DX9 compatible videocard, it means the game needs DX9 features to run (usually Pixel Shaders etc). If you have an old card you must upgrade

Did you actually read my quote, or are your just letting you fingers type crap?
DX9 compatability != DX9 features. But let's say you are right. What does "DX9 compatible sound card" means? Does it require Decibel Model 3.0? OMG, I only have 2.0... ZOMG, oh noes...

Damn that girl is annoying, always getting carried away and runs infront of me making it hard to shoot. If i live her alone for a few seconds, she is liked swarmed with ganados. Im not having enough ammo to protect myself, let alone somebody else, pfft. But the game is awsome, very challanging, i dont even wanna think what its gonna be like on professional, hopefully ill have more than 1 mil pesos to buy me that unlimited ammo RPG.

@ToastMan:
About gf3/older cards:
Actually i tried the game on a secondary pc with a Geforce 4 Ti 4200 card
and it couldnt run it properly,(menus were fine, but blackness when playing)
so i guess same? goes for gf3.
Thankfully i recalled a nifty program (3d-analyzer) that can help you out by emulating
feautures you lack etc. I tried it out and worked perfectly fine.
So go here:
www.tommti-systems.de/start.html
select 'files' from the top, and then click the first picture that shows up to get the program.
Run it, select exe (game.exe), tick the options* you want and hit Run.
Theres a button at the bottom aswell 'save batch file', you can make a .bat with
that in the game's folder and make a shortcut of that .bat on your desktop for ease
of use (or change the target of the game's original shortcut form the launcher to the bat).
*About the options you tick start with these 2 (which worked for me):
Performance-> force SW TnL
Hardware Limits (cap bits) -> emulate HW TnL caps
if you fail try ticking some others aswell. Other than that i cant think
any other way you could run this or any other game if your card isnt supported.
But let me tell you that theres a bunch i managed to run with this program in the old
days with crappy cards like gf MX.
good luck

Heh you h4x0r, wheres fun in that. (lol i'll probably end up using one, as the enemies are getting tougher). And yeah those chainsaw dudes take about 7 pump shots. I tried to minimize the amount of bullets spent, so i shoot him with the pump and he goes down, i run up and start slashing him up, takes several tries, but he dies.

I cant believe this...
honestly...all I see is people complaining about how crappy this game is...
Ive played both the game cube and ps2 versions and id say this is defently in the middlle of them....it does not look as sharp as the cube but it looks a lot better then the PS2...
also if you thing they did such a bad job porting it ask yourself ...can you do better..?
the game is fine ...it plays exactlty how it should...and yes it plays fine with a controller...perfect in fact...its funny i see specs of these guys systems all the time and I have to call bull ****...they seem to have these wicked expensive systems with videocards that range in the hundreds but they cant pony up $20 for a controller?....come on ...no mouse support...you really have to be kidding....how entertaining to see people cry that console game dont come to PC and then when they do they cry about using a controller?...seriously unbelievable....
The game is addmittly not the best ever...BUT IT IS REALLY GOOD FOR WHAT IT IS..
Im sure that the ones complaining didnt dish out a dime to play..yet they still whine..
hold on ..Ill get my phone...ill call you all a wahhhbulance.....

Well didyousee, it's either the port, or the game, that sucks. Or maybe both.
Can I do a better job at porting the game? Why, yes, I probably can!
We demand mouse support, goddamit! So we're now whining because there's no mouse support? I'd like to see what the console people would be saying if some of the games were basically unplayable with the standard gamepad!
I don't know if this has been posted yet, but you can try the instructions here to get some kind of mouse in the game: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=zh-CN&u=http://eaf1.cn/bbs/viewthread.php?tid=26364

Yeah its a well known tool. It sometimes helps to run the game but in 90% the game runs like crap anyway (choppy, sometimes with graphical glitches). I wouldnt recommend it anyway unless you dont have a few bucks to buy an ancient FX 5200 or something

Just one question :
is this release "Biohazard 4 " cancels the same RE4 release in feb/mar 2007 ?
i am asking this because i am thinking of waiting for the official feb/mar 2007 release instead of far east release.

Yes I know it's well known tool but I'm just thankful he posted correct settings because I tried it before but only with options that had to do with shaders. I would have never thought to try those "TnL" options. And also there isn't any graphical glitches or anything, plays just perfect on ps1.1 card.

JiGSaW, the trainer you linked sets off NOD32, claiming a keylogger.hacktool win32 or some crap like that.
Should I trust it?
Also, what the hell is your avatar? I've wanted to ask for a while.

No. Feb/mar is a release date for EU/US versions. They can change it, of course

I guess you are lucky then, cause this game seems to be a rare exception. Enjoy. I tried it before with Silent Hill 3 and few other games and i didnt like it at all so i just upgraded.

Yes. In EU/US version there will be Ubisoft logo when you start the game |
And it will say Resident Evil 4.
